CarbonAdventure

CarbonAdventure is an exhilarating 2D Java game focused on the importance of minimizing your carbon footprint while traveling in your daily life. Embark on a thrilling adventure through colorful maps, challenging obstacles, entertaining characters and interactive elements while learning about sustainability and environmental awareness.

The development of CarbonAdventure took place between March 31 and April 18, with the dedicated efforts of the development team to bring the game to life.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

To run the game locally, ensure you have the following installed:

  • Java Development Kit (JDK): Required for compiling and running Java code.
  • Integrated Development Environment (IDE): Use an IDE like IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse for convenient development.
  • LibGDX Framework: Set up the LibGDX environment and dependencies in your IDE.

Installation

  • Clone the repository to your local machine: git clone https://github.com/nathanpower1/CarbonAdventure.git
  • Open the project in your preferred IDE.
  • Set up the LibGDX environment and dependencies if not already configured.
  • Build and run the project from your IDE.

Gameplay

  • Use the arrow keys or on-screen controls to move the player character.
  • Collect gems and other items to score points and progress through the levels.
  • Avoid obstacles and enemies to stay alive and reach the end of each level.
  • Compete for the highest score and try to beat your own records on the leaderboard.
