Item Authorizations view very slow

1. Create an item with a attached file/files
2. Go to edit screen of this item and go into "Edit item's authorization policies" view
3. There will be several groups of access rights (item, bundles, bitstreams)
4. Add in every Policies group multiple User groups (any level of permission, e.g. READ)
5. Loading/Reloading this screen becomes extremely slow at 10+ groups per policies group

In some cases at 10+ User groups per every Policies group leads to situation where you can see placeholders for data, but data appears even after 1min wait time

@MarisArins : If I understand this ticket correctly, this may be a slight misunderstanding of the feature.

Ideally, this "Edit Item's authorization policies" view would specify only 1-2 (or a small handful) of policies per policy group. So, for example, for a Bitstream, you might specify it's Admin-only, so you remove the "Anonymous" policy and add one for the "Administrator" group.

Alternatively, maybe the Bitstream should only be accessible to a small departmental group, in which case you can create a Group to represent that department & add all EPersons and/or subgroups to that Group. Then you just create a single policy for that one Group instead of individual policies for each EPerson (and/or subgroup)

So, ideally, you should not be listing individual users or a large number of groups in separate policies for each Bitstream or Bundle or Item. Instead, you'd create groups to manage those access controls & create a policy just for that group.

Nonetheless, I completely agree with you that this Admin screen should not take forever if you choose to add many policies for individual groups or people. I just wanted to note that you can work around this problem by creating groups to ensure you don't need to manually create many policies.

Since there's a workaround here, I'll schedule this for 7.2. I agree it could be improved, but if you use more groups it makes permission management easier & makes this page less likely to take a long time to load.
