My DSpace: Facets panel on the left freezes when switching Discovery Configuration

Bug Description

(This issue can be reproduced on both the DS8 demo instance and DS9 Testathon instance)

After logging in with a user that has role admin, navigate to the "My DSpace" section. Then, change the Discovery Configuration using the dropdown menu. If you switch the configuration multiple times and finally re-select the initial option, the facets panel on the left side of the UI freezes.

During the process (switch of available discovery configurations), several 400 Bad Request responses are returned by the backend.

@saschaszott : This might be a duplicate of #4097 (as it sounds very similar). A possible fix is already in #4121 (created by @sergius02 ), but that PR is only for 7.x and it needs to be ported to 8.x and main.

I have integrated the changes of PR #4121 into my local DS8.0 dev instance. I can still see "400 Bad Request" responses from the DS backend. The DS backend log still contains messages like this:
