Perfect Dark with jump, a combat roll, melee combos, a third person camera, up to 80 simulants, a spectator camera, screenshots and video recording.

What's new in 2.0.4

Recording, rebuilt

Recording now runs on your graphics card instead of your processor. The picture is converted on the GPU before it ever reaches memory — a third of the data the old version moved — and it is encoded by whatever your machine actually has: NVENC, VAAPI, QuickSync, AMF, Media Foundation or VideoToolbox.

What that buys you is a recorder that keeps up when it matters. An eighty simulant firefight used to stall the game and cut the recording short a few seconds in. It doesn't any more.

Ideal for catching the unexpected — the thing you didn't know was going to happen until it already had.

Press F11. That's it.

F11 starts recording instantly. No dialog, no setup, no second program running in the background. Press it again to stop, and the file is finished and ready to play the moment you do.

F12 takes a screenshot, the same way.

Both keys can be changed in Dab's Mod Options, along with the frame rate and quality.

Easy to find, easy to share

Your clips and screenshots now land in recordings and screenshots folders right next to the game, not buried in a hidden system directory. Open the folder you launched from and they're there — ready to drag into Discord, upload, or back up.

Your saves live there too. The whole game is one folder now: copy it to another machine, or hand it to a friend, and everything comes with it.

Upgrading from an earlier version? Your saves are copied across automatically the first time you run this one — unlocks, agents, Combat Sim setups and Ghost Trials runs. Nothing is moved or deleted; the originals stay exactly where they were.

Choosing your encoder

Dab's Mod Options now has a Recording Encoder setting. Auto is the right answer nearly always — it finds the fastest thing your machine has and remembers it. If you'd rather pick, open the list and it will tell you which encoders your hardware can actually use and which it can't, before you choose.

You need your own Perfect Dark ntsc-final ROM — see README.md inside the download for where it goes.
