This release fixes (I hope!) the following bugs:
- Enemies can no longer drop items on stairs
- Attempting to drop an item on stairs doesn't remove the item from the player's inventory
- Rooms on the mini map are fully filled in when the player first steps in one
- Tiles around the exits to rooms don't get stuck as lit up. I'm still not super happy with the lighting in general, but the permanently lit tiles should be gone
- When using a magic map scroll, the game area is drawn before exiting the item menu to ensure the walls show up, and lighting is redrawn around the player correctly
I've also added the following feature:
- When the player is poisoned, the HP bar will turn green to show the poison state at a glance
In addition, I've attached a copy of my DJGPP and Allegro toolchain. This is the version of gcc and Allegro that I use to build most of my DOS projects (including DamPBN). To use it:
- Unzip DJGPP_v2.95.zip into the root of your DOS drive. Now you should have a directory called 'DJGPP' in there.
- Add the following lines to your autoexec.bat file:
PATH=C:\DJGPP\BIN;%PATH%
SET DJGPP=C:\DJGPP\DJGPP.ENV
One you save and reboot your DOS PC, you should be able to extract the source archive, cd to SLAC\CODE and run 'make' to build the game.
NOTE: I've included a version of the game built with floating point emulation (for 386SX/486SX systems without a 387/487). Future releases (for the short term) will include this in a single binary; the longer term goal is to replace the floating point code with fixed point code.
