Darkelf Shadow CE 7.0.10 is a focused stability, performance, and compatibility release for the 7.x series.

What's New

Performance & Compatibility

  • Improved responsiveness on compatibility-mode websites.
  • Compatibility-mode sites now bypass unnecessary large cosmetic-filter stylesheet injection, reducing CSS parsing and rendering overhead.
  • Network-level Darkelf Standard Protection remains independent of this optimization.
  • Improved compatibility with complex and resource-heavy websites.

Navigation & Popup Handling

  • Improved handling of target="_blank" and secondary-window navigation.
  • User-clicked links can remain in the current Shadow tab.
  • Improved blocking of script-generated popups and popunders.
  • Reduced unwanted blank or Home tabs.

WebAuthn & Authentication

  • Removed temporary WebAuthn diagnostic code used during development.
  • Retains native Touch ID and passkey support through the custom Darkelf Qt WebEngine 6.11.2 macOS ARM64 build.
  • Preserves scoped authentication and CAPTCHA compatibility handling.

Privacy & Filtering

  • Retains fast declarative tracker blocking and indexed Darkelf Standard Protection.
  • Retains BLOCKED / PROTECTED / TRUSTED canvas protection modes.
  • Preserves WebGL, AudioContext, font, WebRTC, and URL-tracking protections.
  • No Darkelf telemetry or analytics.

macOS

  • Updated application metadata for 7.0.10.
  • Retains the custom Darkelf Qt WebEngine 6.11.2 ARM64 framework.
  • Retains H.264/AVC media compatibility.
  • Retains Developer ID signing, Hardened Runtime, notarization, stapling, and Gatekeeper validation.
  • SHA-256 verification provided with the native DMG.

Code Quality

  • Removed unused development code and imports.
  • Bandit security scan reviewed.
  • Ruff source analysis passes cleanly.

Distribution

Darkelf Shadow remains available through Python/PyPI for supported macOS, Windows, and Linux environments.

The native macOS ARM64 DMG includes Darkelf's custom Qt WebEngine build with macOS-specific Touch ID/passkey and media integrations.
