After using 0.3.6 for a while and encountering many issues with it not installing mods properly or acting weirdly, I decided that a complete remake was in order and thats what I've done now!

The app was completely rewritten from the ground up with new libraries and has resulted in a much faster and more stable product!

TLDR: silly app is faster now and works better

Changes

  • Completely changed and rewrote the UI, now using PyQt6 instead of CustomTkinter
  • Remade the config menu to be popout and have one save button
  • Launcher now prompts to download the Main Modpack from github, if the user declines then it will not prompt again
  • You can now search through installed mods and sort by specific filters
  • All mods, cache, and datafiles are now stored inside of the PBLC Update Manager folder, this means if you delete the launcher you will lose all modpacks!

Additions

  • Added modpack support, instead of installing directly to the
  • Added modpack verification so if something seems to be broken you can verify and repair the modpack (Or if something happens during download, you can use the verification feature to resume from where you left off)
  • Added Thunderstore cache suppoert, this will massively improve download times and lessen API calls to Thunderstore
  • Mods will now cache themselves once downloaded to prevent re-downloads, this will improve future download times.

Fixes

  • Overrides now download in the proper order
  • Improved mod downloading speed by about ~550%
  • Fixed multiple issues with mods not installing correctly

Removals

  • Completely removed the patch system
  • Removed modpack patches (barely used)
  • Removed the beta modpack installer
  • Removed performance mode
