Mobile Maia Preview 2.5.0-beta.6
Preview 2.5.0-beta.6 changes Hold Right inside an analysis variation to select the next move on the main line: the same destination as Hold Left followed by one normal Right tap. It uses the outermost main-line branch point, regardless of variation length, nesting or selected move, and clamps at the game’s end. Hold Left, ordinary taps and main-line endpoint holds are unchanged.
Updates existing Preview installations in place. Settings defaults, engines and models are unchanged. Stable and Dev remain unchanged; Grand Kingdom and DGT remain Dev-only.
Exact-source CI, independent Linux reproduction, established Preview signing, full ARM64/79M native qualification, actual signed beta.5-to-beta.6 upgrade and changed-feature checks are recorded in the verification bundle. Fresh upstream/security review is dated 2026-10-23, including the staged Dart certificate changes and their offline-app applicability; no dependency change was required. Physical phones and Chessnut remain tester acceptance.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.5.0-beta.5
Preview 2.5.0-beta.5 improves analysis navigation through variations. Short taps step within the current line; Back crosses to its actual parent. At a variation’s end, Right is dimmed for tapping while either arrow can still be held to return to the main-line branch point. Further taps follow the main line. Main-line holds still jump to game endpoints, and accessibility describes the available hold action.
Updates existing Preview installations in place. Settings defaults, engines and models are unchanged. Stable and Dev remain unchanged; Grand Kingdom and DGT remain Dev-only.
Exact-source CI, independent Linux reproduction, established Preview signing, full ARM64/79M native qualification, actual signed beta.4 upgrade and changed-feature checks are recorded in the attached verification bundle. Fresh upstream dependency/advisory review is dated 2026-10-22; no dependency changes were required. Physical phones and Chessnut remain tester acceptance.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.5.0-beta.4
Preview 2.5.0-beta.4 fixes stale piece selection and legal-move dots when navigating Game Review or imported-PGN analysis. Navigation also cancels held drags and pending promotion cleanly, so the first fresh touch works. Ordinary engine updates retain selection, and played moves keep their tap/drag animation behavior.
Includes the completed beta.3 translation corrections. Gameplay, settings defaults, engines and models are unchanged. Updates existing Preview installations in place. Stable and Dev remain unchanged; Grand Kingdom and DGT remain Dev-only.

Mobile Maia Preview 2.5.0-beta.3
Preview 2.5.0-beta.3 includes the completed translation corrections from #162: clearer theme choices, consistent chess and sampling terminology, and language-specific grammar and formatting across all ten languages. The approved English sampling explanation and gameplay, settings defaults, engine and model behavior are preserved.
Updates existing Preview installations in place. Stable and Dev remain unchanged. Grand Kingdom and DGT remain Dev-only; physical Chessnut acceptance remains with testers.
Qualification and artifact hashes are in the attached verification bundle and SHA256SUMS.txt. Native-speaker acceptance and physical-device font/rendering inspection remain tester limitations; the completed translation review was not repeated for this release.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.5.0-beta.2
Preview 2.5.0-beta.2
-
Darker, neutral panels when Pure black background is enabled in dark mode, making Settings and Analysis Board feel less boxy. Other themes, board colors and highlights are unchanged.
-
Shorter engine-setting warnings in all ten languages: the “From move 6” prefix is removed. Opening-variety timing remains explained in Help, and engine behavior is unchanged.
-
Refreshed Simple explanation of Temperature and Top-P in all ten languages, using the approved experienced-player and angel analogies.
Updates existing Preview installations and preserves games and settings. Appearance and the new Maia defaults introduced in beta.1 remain available. Chessnut is the only enabled board family in Preview; Grand Kingdom/DGT remain Dev-only.
Stable 2.4.0 and Dev are unchanged. This is a Preview prerelease for testing.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.5.0-beta.1
Preview 2.5.0-beta.1
This Preview combines the approved appearance and Maia settings improvements for testing before a future Stable release.
- Appearance, directly below Language: choose Light, Dark or System, optionally use Android system colors, or use a pure black background in dark mode. The current green dark theme remains the default. System colors require Android 12 or later and an available device palette.
- New engine defaults: Temperature 1.0, Top-P 0.95 and maximum opening variety enabled. Maia uses full variety through move 5, then your configured settings from move 6. Primary analysis defaults to 1500; the optional second Maia defaults to 2600. Existing explicit preferences and saved-game sampling settings are preserved. Play already defaults to 1500.
- Clearer engine help: Simple and Technical explanations in all ten languages, with a visual research guide. At Temperature 0, Top-P shows “Not used” and retains its value for later. Notices explain reduced opening variety and potentially stronger play only at the agreed settings thresholds.
- Theme changes preserve chessboard, clock and evaluation meanings. Navigation-strip backgrounds follow the selected theme, including pure black.
The second Maia analysis engine remains optional. Move history and sampling-data recording remain off by default. Chessnut support is unchanged; Grand Kingdom and DGT remain Dev-only and blocked in Preview.
Install the APK below to update an existing Preview installation. Stable and Dev remain separate apps and are unchanged. Obtainium users should enable prereleases for this repository.

Physical phone/Chessnut testing remains part of Preview acceptance. Automated emulator checks do not certify every vendor's dynamic palette or navigation configuration.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.4.0-beta.15
Adds Max variety in opening, an optional Engine settings switch.
- When enabled, Maia uses Temperature 1.0 and Top-P 1.0 for the first five moves by each side, then your configured settings from move 6. This also supports varied openings followed by Temperature 0 (the most likely human move).
- Off by default. The switch is disabled when both sliders are already 1.0; its information button remains available. Returning both sliders to default clears the choice.
- New games retain their sampling configuration when resumed. Older saved games do not automatically opt in. Takebacks, Continue from here and Chessnut resets use the correct phase/settings.
- Sampling reports retain the probabilities actually used. Analysis probabilities are unchanged. Help is available in all ten languages.
No additional model inference, model changes or engine upgrades. Beta.14's opening-label fix, improved help and Gradle security update remain included. Grand Kingdom/DGT remain Dev-only.
Update through Obtainium with prereleases enabled, or install the APK below over your existing Preview installation. Stable and Dev remain separate and unchanged. Please test this candidate before Stable 2.4 promotion. Verification evidence is attached; physical Chessnut acceptance remains with testers.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.4.0-beta.14
Final Preview candidate for Mobile Maia 2.4. Please test this build before Stable promotion.
- Clearer Temperature/Top-P, move-history and sampling-data explanations in all ten languages. The balanced-play example now suggests Temperature 1.0 and Top-P 0.95.
- Shared Chessnut connection and session handling is ready for Stable promotion, including reconnecting older saved Chessnut games without a stored device identity.
- Gradle upgraded to the patched 9.8.1 release, with a checksum and CI guard against accidental rollback.
The compact opening-name fix from beta.13 is retained. Maia/Stockfish versions, model weights, engine defaults and sampling behavior are unchanged. Grand Kingdom and DGT remain experimental and disabled in Preview/Stable.
Install the APK below, or update through Obtainium using this Preview repository with prereleases enabled. Existing Preview installations update in place; Stable and Dev install separately.
Release qualification and cleanup: PR #150. Verification evidence is attached to this release. Physical phone/Chessnut acceptance remains with testers. This is not a Stable, F-Droid or Zapstore release.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.4.0-beta.13
What changed
-
Rewritten Temperature and Top-P information explains variety, stronger play, argmax and the research results in plain language, with translations in all ten supported languages.
-
Opening names now occupy the same compact row whether or not the information icon appears. Moving between short and truncated names no longer pushes the engine panel and move list down.
-
Truncated names remain tappable across the whole row, including the information icon, to read the complete opening name.
-
Larger accessibility text still gets the height it needs, consistently for both cases.
Updates existing Preview installations in place, preserving saved games, settings and Maia sampling data. Obtainium users can update from this repository with prereleases enabled.
This is the Preview channel with Maia3-79M. Chessnut remains the supported electronic-board family; Grand Kingdom and DGT remain Dev-only. Stable and Dev are unchanged.
The attached verification bundle records the exact source, CI, independent Linux reproduction, signature and Android emulator checks. Physical phone/board acceptance remains with testers.
Mobile Maia Preview 2.4.0-beta.12
What changed
- Opening names stay on one line in Analysis and game review.
- When a name is too long to fit, tap the text or its information icon to read the complete opening and variation. Names that fit have no icon.
- Dismiss with Close, Android Back or a tap outside; the board and selected move stay in place.
- Improved large-text layout so the move list retains usable space when the navigation buttons wrap.
