Mobile Maia 2.3 adds ten interface languages and improvements to game history and time controls, while keeping the app free, open-source and offline.
What's new
- Ten languages: English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Hindi and Brazilian Portuguese. Follow your device language or choose in Settings. Shared chess terminology follows Lichess, with documented adaptations where Mobile Maia's context differs.
- Reliable Recent Games dates: opening or analysing a saved game no longer changes its played date or moves it to the top. Older games without a reliable date remain explicitly unknown.
- Subtle result colors: green for your win, red for your loss, amber for a draw, muted blue for unfinished games. Ambiguous results stay neutral; screen-reader descriptions include your result.
- Lichess-style quick time controls: 1+0, 2+1, 3+0, 3+2, 5+0, 5+3, 10+0, 10+5, 15+10, 30+0 and 30+20, alongside Unlimited and Custom. Available on Home and in Continue from here.
- Quicker optional human timing for short games: 1+0 targets average about one second, capped at three; 2+1, 3+0 and 3+2 average about 1.5 seconds, capped at 4.5. Longer presets retain the existing timing. Engine computation counts toward these targets and can exceed them. Human timing remains optional and off by default.
Existing games and settings are preserved. The Stable package, signing identity, blue icon, Maia-3 79M model and engine versions are unchanged. Temperature and Top-P remain at their existing defaults; move-variety presets are future work.
Installation
Install Mobile-Maia-v2.3.0.apk over the existing Stable app; do not uninstall first. Preview is a separate app and is not an in-place upgrade to Stable.
Verification
The attached evidence records the exact release source, host/native tests, Stable upgrade checks, dependency audit, independent F-Droid recipe build and scans, APK hashes and signing/reproducibility checks. These do not certify physical Chessnut behavior or every device. A known Maia rating-badge truncation at 200% system text remains; it is unchanged from the accepted Preview.
GitHub publication and F-Droid store availability are separate. This release uses the canonical F-Droid build recipe; final update-detection and public-download results are recorded with the release evidence. Store availability depends on F-Droid's processing.
