SQLTreeo Compare 0.1.8
This update moves the license check to the new SQLTreeo license service, adds a single-file download and replaces a Microsoft library that two security advisories of October 2026 are about.
License
- License keys are now checked by the SQLTreeo license service, the service that also sells the keys on sqltreeo.com. Version 0.1.7 and earlier checked them with the service of Virtual Folders for SSMS.
- A key only works in the product it was bought for. A key of SQLTreeo Job Timeline or SQLTreeo Restore no longer unlocks SQLTreeo Compare; the message says which product the key belongs to.
- The trial, the view-only mode without a license and the way a key is entered do not change.
Downloads
- New: SqlCompare.exe, the desktop application as a single file. Download it and start it; nothing is installed or unzipped. Like the portable zip it does not update itself: download the new version from the website.
- The installer and the portable zip stay as they are.
Security
- The library is System.Security.Cryptography.Pkcs, a Microsoft library for PKCS and CMS data (signed and encrypted messages). SQLTreeo Compare does not use it directly; the SQL Server driver depends on it. The two advisories (CVE-2026-84008 and CVE-2026-70162, both denial of service) are fixed in version 10.0.13 of the library for .NET 10.
- The desktop application of version 0.1.7 contained version 10.0.12, the copy that belongs to the .NET runtime it is delivered with. This update is delivered with .NET 10.0.13.
- The command line tool of version 0.1.7 contained version 9.0.13, a copy that came with the SQL Server driver. It now contains version 10.0.13.
