A beta. Still unsigned, and still the same two ways in: the installer, or the portable ZIP you unzip over the old folder. Settings, projects and recordings live outside the application folder, so upgrading over 0.9.3 keeps your work.

The Mix Console

The output node becomes a mixing desk, always there under SYSTEM, where Audio Output was. A project saved before opens cabled exactly as it was.

  • One strip per Sequencer track, in the track's order: its name and its pan, both typed or turned; a fader with the track's meter running up its slot; Mute and Solo; and a three-band EQ: a 250 Hz low shelf, a 1 kHz bell and a 4 kHz high shelf, ±15 dB each. The strip and the track's header are the same controls.
  • The master after them, with its meter and a CLIP key that lights once the output has gone over 0 dBFS.
  • The OUTPUT tab holds what Audio Output's page held: the sound card, its rate and buffer, the engine's state and the gain staging.
  • A MIDI track is levelled where it sounds, through an arpeggiator or a One Ring cabled after it: the instrument at the end of that chain answers to the track's fader, EQ and meter.

The Drum Sequencer

  • Scenes, up to 999 of them, each its own steps and length over the same kit, stepped through on the display or picked from their miniatures.
  • Send to Sequencer: the scene shown, or every scene back to back, written as MIDI clips at the song's start or at the playhead. Where a sent clip plays, the node itself keeps quiet.
  • Focus plays the node on its own, leaving out the arrangement's clips and the other players, without changing anything.
  • A band dragged from outside the pads boxes them: Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, Delete; Ctrl+V lays the block at a marker on the beat ruler, lengthening the pattern to hold it.
  • A second right-click on the selected step lets it go.

A new look

  • Every key is metal: a thin black chrome ring, a matte black plate, and the legend cut out of it with a cream plastic insert that lights when the key is on. Record, input, mute and solo light in their own colours.
  • Knobs and faders are a mixing desk's: knurled black knobs with a ringed cap and a white index; faders in a black slit, under a ridged metal cap.
  • The edges are cut the same way: the header, the sidebar, and the Patch Bay's cards, their corners and their sockets.
