Privacy

Daysting IRC does not require you to register an account or provide any personally identifiable information (PII) to use the app.

  • No account required. DaystingIRC has no app account. It supports any IRC server with TLS, not just irc.daysting.com. Each server owner determines account requirements and account creation. irc.daysting.com requires no account to participate, but registration is strongly recommended to protect your nickname and channel ownership.
  • No data collection. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any usage data, analytics, crash reports, or telemetry with the app developers.
  • Local storage only. All connection profile settings (server, nickname, passwords, theme preferences) are stored exclusively on your device using the platform's local storage (UserDefaults on Apple platforms). This data never leaves your device.
  • Passwords. Any SASL, NickServ, or OPER passwords you save are stored locally on your device. They are sent to the IRC server you connect to, and only over an encrypted TLS connection. They are not shared with any third party.
  • Network traffic. The only outbound connections the app makes are to the IRC server you specify. No other external services are contacted.
  • No registration. IRC nicknames are not inherently linked to personal identity. You may use any nickname that complies with the IRC server's rules.
