Color Theory v1.2.0
- New Dye Layer Stack illusion. Three dye layers stack in density, so light passing through multiplies. Compare a film layer against a flat veil, watch overlapping dyes build new colours, or pull the layers apart and stack them back together.
- New Dye Layer Separation passthru. Splits your clip into its cyan, magenta and yellow dye layers, lets you switch, gain or kill each one, and restacks them. View each layer, the density, or side by side strips.
- New Surround A/B. Two identical patches on a bright and a dark surround, set in stops around mid grey, with a master exposure, an increment and decrement link, and a readout that says SAME VALUE when the numbers match.
- New Crispening Ladder. Even steps in stops on a surround you control, as a row, as pairs, or as a grid that climbs both ways from a black corner. The steps near the surround are the ones that look the most different.
- New Viewing Matte passthru. Shrinks your clip and puts it on a uniform matte. Store a dark and a bright matte and flip between them to see the same picture change.
- Every new mode has Demo presets that set the sliders for you.
Install: unzip and drop ColorTheory.ofx.bundle into your OFX plugins folder (macOS and Linux: /Library/OFX/Plugins or /usr/OFX/Plugins, Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins), or install it from the Dec18 Plugin Manager.
Color Theory v1.1.2
- The four photographic test images are back: Blue Bar, Red Christmas Lights, Light Saber and Diver. Each one now just names its colour space and says where a poor picture formation breaks the picture. The download is about 51 MB again.
- Image Options gains a DaVinci Wide Gamut / Intermediate output. ARRI Wide Gamut 4 (Diver), Rec.709 and sRGB sources are converted to DaVinci Wide Gamut and encoded with the Intermediate curve, no clamp, so the node drops straight into a DWG/I timeline.
- Palette Reconstruction gains a Sampled From Image preset. It reads the frame every render, finds the colours that cover most of it and fills the palette in coverage order, Colour 1 being the most common. Colour Count still sets how many.

- RGB Chips now matches the RGB Chips DCTL control for control: Saturation, Number of Hues, Number of Columns, Mid Gray, Min and Max Clamp, Clamp Output, Gray Ramp, Vertical, Band Interval, Model (HSV or Spherical), Continuous Mode and Row Gaps. Output leaves the node raw like the DCTL, so put a Colour Space Transform after it.
- Perceived Luminance Visualizer: Shutter Count 0 turns the shutters off and leaves just the hue sweep with the probe markers, and the swatch now shows the perceived luminance percentage.
- The four photographic test images are hidden for now. The download is back to about 1.5 MB.

- Pipeline Test Images: four real scene linear frames (Blue Bar, Red Christmas Lights, Light Saber, Camera Frame Wide Gamut 4) with commentary on the stored colour space and what to look for. Output is untouched linear by default, so put a Colour Space Transform after the node and judge your pipeline.
- RGB Chips: a clean chip chart with primaries, secondaries and ramps in the same category.
- New Generated illusion: Perceived Luminance Visualizer. A hue sweep with grey ramp shutters, markers where the grey matches the hue, a corner swatch and a live readout. Keyframe Hue Offset to scroll it.
- Image Options group: Scene Linear or Encoded Preview output, fit, exposure and border level.
- Join the Discord button at the bottom of the panel.
