Edge-Drop v0.1.0 — Launch Release 🚀

Welcome to the initial beta release of Edge-Drop, an engineering-grade, zero-click desktop clipboard shelf and native file transfer hub designed to eliminate the cognitive friction of traditional clipboard managers.

Edge-Drop sits hidden on the leftmost pixel boundary of your screen, revealing itself with physics-based spring overshoot animations when hovered. It allows you to collect, combine, drag, and drop files, images, and text snippets natively across professional desktop applications.

Key Features in this Release

1. Zero-Click Activation & Hysteresis Trigger

  • Always-Accessible Trigger Zone: Anchored at x=0 on your screen. The panel Dwelling (120ms) and Hover timers ensure it opens and closes instantly without obstructing active window clicks.
  • Hysteresis Auto-Hide: A dual-threshold dead band (255px inner / 290px outer) prevents visual flickering near the panel boundaries.

2. OS-Level OLE Native Drag & Drop

  • Direct File System Injection: Bypasses browser HTML5 limits by resolving in-memory clips into temporary file handles, allowing you to drag items directly out of the shelf into Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Slack, or Windows Explorer.

3. Fluid Collections & 3D Stacks

  • Dynamic Stack Bundling: Multi-file copies and bulk drags are automatically grouped into expandable 3D card stacks with rotational offsets.
  • Left-Edge Detachment (Ungrouping): Expand any stack, grab a sub-item, and drag it to the left edge of the screen. Drop it over the glowing coral bar (#f97316) to ungroup it back into a standalone card.
  • Interactive Drag Merging: Drag any card on top of another directly inside the shelf to combine them into a unified stack.

4. Premium Dark-Mode Aesthetics

  • macOS-Inspired Minimalism: Deep black frosted glass layout (backdrop-filter: blur(20px)), scroll gradient masks, and monochrome status badges.
  • High-Fidelity Animations: Layout transitions feature custom motion blur filters and spring physics that dynamically blur component contents while resizing.

5. Configurable Clipboard Engine

  • Incognito Mode: Single-click toggle to suspend background clipboard capturing.
  • Dynamic Settings: Custom pill selectors to toggle launch-at-login, history capacity (100–1000 items), auto-delete timers, and vertical trigger hot-zones.

Security & Architecture Standards

  • Isolated Sandbox Execution: Runs with contextIsolation: true and nodeIntegration: false using a statically-typed Preload IPC bridge.
  • Atomic File Persistence: Storage history is written atomically to prevent data corruption during sudden system shutdowns.
  • Registry Safety: Dev-mode registry guards prevent development binaries from modifying system startup keys.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the executable builder from the assets below.
  2. Run Edge-Drop Setup 0.1.0.exe to install the application.
  3. The app will launch silently in the background. Move your mouse cursor to the absolute left edge of your primary screen to slide open the clipboard shelf!
