Presentation Forge v0.1.0

The first public self-hosted release of Presentation Forge: turn a topic or source material into a researched, themed, editable PowerPoint deck and supporting report.

Highlights

  • One-command Docker setup for Linux, Windows, and macOS
  • Private SearXNG research service included in the Compose bundle
  • Bring your own OpenAI-compatible API key or connect host Ollama
  • 34 design themes with content and layout kept strictly separate
  • Editable PPTX output, previews, reports, speaker scripts, and deck workspaces
  • Personal-owner mode for private local installations
  • Persistent Docker storage across restarts and upgrades
  • BYOK protection with a rolling token budget, 12,000-token response ceiling, bounded retries, and pre-request reservations

Quick start

Prerequisite: Docker Engine with Compose on Linux, or Docker Desktop on Windows and macOS.

git clone https://github.com/Deepnar/presentation-forge.git
cd presentation-forge
docker compose up -d --build --wait

Open http://localhost:8090 and create the local workspace owner. Then either attach an OpenAI-compatible key under Settings → Cloud or connect Ollama running on the host.

Important BYOK note

A personal API key is billed directly by its provider. Forge applies token-based safety controls, but provider prices, account balances, discounts, taxes, billing limits, and final invoices remain under the key owner and provider. Configure a hard monetary spending cap in the provider dashboard.

Scope of this release

This is the locally self-hostable product. It does not claim that the planned public hosted service or paid tiers are live. Model weights are not bundled in the Forge image; BYOK works without Ollama, while local inference requires host Ollama.

See README.md and LOCAL_SETUP.md for screenshots, configuration, persistence, updates, and troubleshooting.
