Each layer in this technology tree is built off of the previous layer.

Technology Layer 0 (Foundation)

Radio waves

Technology Layer 1 (Telecommunication)

Radio broadcaster

Radio receiver

Technology Layer 2 (Standard Internet Protocol)

Internet Protocol (IP)

Protocol for computers to communicate together using radio broadcasters and receivers

Some packets don't get received, or get received in the wrong order

Technology Layer 3 (Standard Internet Protocol Suite)

Automatic repeat request (ARQ) - Technique used to ensure IP packets aren't missed

Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) - Protocol over IP that does ARQ to ensure packets are received in the right order

User Datagram Protocol (UDP) - Protocol over IP that lacks ARQ but is faster and works with more peer-to-peer connections

Internet Protocol suite - Suite of four layers that includes IP, TCP, UDP, and applications. Standard used by applications, operating systems, and programming languages

Technology Layer 4 (KCP)

KCP - Protocol over UDP that adds its own ARQ to be more reliable

Technology Layer 5 (KCP in Go)

kcp-go - Cryptographically secure library for KCP

Runs KCP encrypted in Go

Technology Layer 6 (Tunneling)

Gole - Awesome tool written in Go by shawwwn. License

Creates a "tunnel" or peer to peer connection between two computers.

Adds options for encryption, UDP & TCP tunneling.

Adds option for KCP tunneling, to deliver TCP packets over UDP.

Technology Layer 7 (Multiplayer-Possible)

Multiplayer-Possible

Turns Gole from a terminal command into a more user-friendly application.

Decides ports and "servers" for users, reduces much hassle.
