Release list
PeerBrush 0.2
PeerBrush 0.2 is an experimental prerelease (application version 0.2.0), built from 2e1791f. The Windows, Linux and macOS packages below contain the same corresponding GPL v3 source and third-party license notices.
Changes since 0.1.4
- Independent project tabs, guarded cross-project layer transfers and review of unsaved work when closing projects or exiting.
- Retained native-depth raster and folder transforms, clone/heal, crop and resize, text and editable vector sources. Transformed layers remain editable throughout the canvas.
- Selections remain independent of masks. DEL deletes selected layers; Ctrl+D duplicates the current layer selection; Ctrl+G groups selected roots into a folder; Ctrl+Shift+G merges them.
- Common raster formats and supported static SVG/SVGZ imports, explicit animation/page/icon choices, Windows image-file paste and native-depth clipboard operations.
- Searchable, categorized effects; compact effect weights; Posterize and channel clamp; brush, filter and preset libraries. Double-click sliders to type values.
- Folder hierarchy guides, full-row layer context menus and the connected Add mask/Color/Mask selector.
- Broader GPU previews for 8/16-bit blends, masks, clipping, folders and prepared adjustments. Bounded caches and the shared CPU renderer preserve source precision; large workloads may remain faster on CPU.
- Standard RGB PSD clipping, pass-through folders and full layer/folder locks. RGB matrix/TRC and bounded classic RGB LUT ICC previews, native-depth image normalization and explicit sRGB copies preserve protected originals.
- Guarded live AI code editing through the shared engine, with reservations, blue feedback, cancellation/takeover and task undo that preserves interleaved human work.

The standalone source ZIP is also embedded identically in every platform package.- Windows uses the version-specific
PeerBrush-0.2.0application-data directory. Previous workspaces and recovery files remain in their old directories; saved projects can be opened in the new version. See the bundled getting-started guide.
Verification and limits
The exact-source release build and CI passed on all three platforms, including engine, codec, HTTP/stdio protocol, UI regression, formatting and lint checks. All three actual archives were checked for architecture, version, identical committed source, GPL/third-party notices, executable permissions and checksums. Native Windows editing and independent PNG16/standard PSD16 decoding verified rendered results, low-bit preservation, undo and editable reopening. Actual GPU parity checks passed on the available Windows device. macOS/Linux manual desktop interaction remains unverified.
Editable PSD support covers the supported PSD v1 RGB 8/16-bit subset. Unsupported Photoshop settings remain read-only. Partial locks, Blend If, fill opacity, knockout, newer ICC LUT structures, CMYK, HDR/32-bit and PSB remain unsupported. Editable vector projection uses RGBA8 coverage without quantizing existing native16 raster sources. See the bundled Photoshop-fidelity and image-import guides for precise limits.

PeerBrush v0.1.4 — Native 16-bit painting checkpoint
Native 16-bit painting and selection checkpoint: textured/tapered brushes, smudge/wet blending, editable liquify, color balance/HSL/bloom, clipped adjustments, expanded blends and retained regional brush previews. Selections include marquees, lassos, Wand, Quick Selection, deterministic Object region, feather, morphology, reselect and coverage-aware editing. UI, MCP and CLI share engine commands and reservations.
Windows verification passed 252 engine/codec/protocol/UI regression tests, three explicit actual-device GPU parity/failure checks, native painting and independent PNG16/PSD16 save/undo/reopen checks, and all eleven Hippo PSD checks with originals unchanged. The package was verified for ZIP integrity, matching committed source, licenses, requested artwork, executable hashes and a packaged native16 CLI smoke check.
Supported layers retain native 16-bit channels; unsupported Photoshop structures stay read-only with an explicit native-precision flattened copy. Private source format 6 protects newer selection/curve/liquify sources. Learned segmentation, full ICC/PSB/smart-object/text/vector/pass-through fidelity, tiled GPU compositing and progressive large-file decoding remain planned. macOS/Linux native verification remains outstanding.
Download PeerBrush-Windows.zip, extract it, and run Start PeerBrush.cmd or peerbrush.exe. No Rust installation is needed. Matching GPL v3 project source and dependency/font notices are included; the source ZIP is also available separately.
