Silberkorn 0.7.0 – ein quelloffener KI-Bild- und Fotoverbesserer, der vollständig auf der NVIDIA-Grafikkarte rechnet.

• Scan & Film – eine neue Karte für gescannte Filme und Abzüge:

  • Negative umwandeln: Farb- und Schwarzweiß-Negative, gescannt oder mit der Kamera abfotografiert, werden über die Dichte des Films ins Positiv gewandelt. Die orange Filmmaske sowie Schwarz- und Weißpunkt je Farbkanal schätzt Silberkorn selbst; den unbelichteten Filmrand kann man auch mit der Pipette anklicken. Danach wirken alle Regler und KI-Karten auf das Positiv.
  • Staub und Kratzer entfernen: Hat der Scan einen Infrarotkanal (RGBI, etwa aus VueScan oder SilverFast), findet Silberkorn darüber Staub, Fusseln und Kratzer und füllt sie – kleine Punkte auf der Grafikkarte, breite Stellen mit LaMa. Bei 24 Megapixeln dauert das unter einer Sekunde.
  • Fotos trennen: Mehrere Abzüge auf einem Flachbett-Scan werden gefunden, auch schräg aufgelegte, gerade gerichtet, auf ihren Rand beschnitten und einzeln gespeichert; eines davon öffnet Silberkorn danach zum Bearbeiten.

  Scan & film – a new card for scanned film and prints:

  • Convert negatives: colour and black-and-white negatives, scanned or photographed with a camera, are converted into positives via the density of the film. Silberkorn estimates the orange film base as well as black and white point per colour channel by itself; the unexposed film border can also be picked with the eyedropper. After that, all sliders and AI cards work on the positive.
  • Remove dust and scratches: if the scan has an infrared channel (RGBI, for example from VueScan or SilverFast), Silberkorn finds dust, fibres and scratches through it and fills them – small specks on the graphics card, wide spots with LaMa. At 24 megapixels this takes less than a second.
  • Split photos: several prints on a flatbed scan are found, crooked ones included, straightened, cropped to their edge and saved one by one; Silberkorn then opens one of them for editing.

• Kartenauswahl: Ein Auswahlfeld über den Karten springt direkt zu jeder Karte und zeigt beim Rollen, welche gerade oben steht.

  Card picker: a drop-down above the cards jumps straight to any card and shows, while scrolling, which one is at the top.

Behoben / Fixed

• Ein TIFF mit vier Kanälen galt immer als Bild mit Alphakanal. Der Infrarotkanal eines Filmscans machte das Bild so teilweise durchsichtig.

  A TIFF with four channels was always treated as an image with an alpha channel, so the infrared channel of a film scan made the image partly transparent.

• War „Fokus ins Bild klicken“ (Tiefe & Bokeh) aktiv und wurde dabei ein Objekt entfernt, stürzte das Programm ab.

  With "Click focus in the image" (Depth & bokeh) active, removing an object crashed the program.

Aktualisieren von 0.1.x bis 0.6.0: Im alten Programmordner Silberkorn.exe und den Ordner _internal löschen, dann das neue ZIP dorthin entpacken. Die Ordner modelle und nvidia sowie die Einstellungen in silberkorn.json bleiben erhalten – nichts muss neu geladen werden.

Updating from 0.1.x to 0.6.0: in the old program folder delete Silberkorn.exe and the _internal folder, then unpack the new ZIP there. The modelle and nvidia folders and the settings in silberkorn.json are kept – nothing needs to be downloaded again.

Windows SmartScreen

Die EXE ist nicht digital signiert. Windows zeigt deshalb beim ersten Start „Der Computer wurde durch Windows geschützt“. Über Weitere Informationen → Trotzdem ausführen startet das Programm. Wer sichergehen will, vergleicht vorher die Prüfsumme oben oder baut die EXE mit build.cmd selbst.

The EXE is not digitally signed, so Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" on first start. Click More info → Run anyway. To be sure, compare the checksum above first or build the EXE yourself with build.cmd.

Erster Start / First start

Die EXE bringt CUDA und cuDNN nicht mit, weil NVIDIAs Lizenzen die Weitergabe zusammen mit Silberkorn nicht erlauben. Beim ersten Start fragt das Programm nach, nennt Quelle, Größe und NVIDIAs Lizenzbedingungen und lädt nach Zustimmung einmalig NVIDIAs offizielle Pakete von pypi.org – 1,6 GB, ausgepackt rund 2,3 GB im Ordner nvidia neben der EXE. Jede Datei wird gegen ihre Prüfsumme geprüft.

The EXE does not include CUDA and cuDNN, because NVIDIA's licences do not allow redistributing them with Silberkorn. On first start the program asks, names source, size and NVIDIA's licence terms, and after consent downloads NVIDIA's official packages from pypi.org once – 1.6 GB, about 2.3 GB unpacked in the nvidia folder next to the EXE. Every file is checked against its checksum.

Beim ersten Bewegen eines Reglers scheint das Programm einige Sekunden zu hängen: Die Grafikkarte übersetzt dann einmalig die Filterprogramme. Danach reagieren alle Regler flüssig, und spätere Starts gehen deutlich schneller.

The first time you move a slider, the program seems to hang for a few seconds: the graphics card compiles the filter programs once. After that all sliders respond smoothly, and later starts are much faster.

Die KI-Modelle gehören nicht zum Programm; jede Karte lädt ihr Modell erst nach Klick und Rückfrage aus den Releases modelle-1 bis modelle-9. Ebenso die Objektivdatenbank: Sie kommt nach Klick und Rückfrage vom lensfun-Projekt.

The AI models are not part of the program; each card downloads its model only after a click and confirmation from the releases modelle-1 to modelle-9. The same goes for the lens database: it comes from the lensfun project after a click and confirmation.
