Release list
nexdiary 0.4.0
Notes you add after writing a page now reach the page too.
New
- Write a day up anew. When a day already has a page, the AI can write it again from all notes of the day, including the ones you added later. nexdiary asks first, and nothing is replaced before you save. A saved page offers "Write it up anew" in the bar. Not on a locked day.
- A reset link made on the server. An operator who forgot their own password, on a server without mail, had no way back in.
python -m app.reset_link <name>in the container prints the link the interface makes: it works once, for 24 hours, and lifts the lock after failed sign-ins. The second factor stays. See "Forgot your password?" in the README. (#1)
Update
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d --wait
No new settings, and the database stays as it is.
To make a reset link from the host:
docker exec -it -u nexdiary nexdiary python -m app.reset_link <name>
On Unraid, open the container's console and run gosu nexdiary python -m app.reset_link <name>.
nexdiary 0.3.0
Give your pages fixed headings. When the AI writes a day up, it fills them with what your notes say, and leaves the rest empty.
New
- Templates for your pages. Under My account, Writing you set up templates: headings, each with a question as a hint, and one of them as your default. Two examples help you start.
- The AI fills only what your notes say. With a template it writes under your headings. Where your notes say nothing about a heading, the section stays empty. Nothing is made up.
- Writing by hand with a frame. The headings already stand on the page, the question as a grey hint below. Empty sections are dropped when you save.
- The morning write-up uses your default template, if you have one.
Fixed
- Search finds headings with marks. Search now reads the plain text of a page, so a heading such as "C#" or "Plan [A]" is found, and the excerpts show no Markdown.
Update
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d --wait
No new settings. The database moves to a new version on the first start, with a backup made before.
nexdiary 0.2.0
Write as often as suits you. Set a goal for the week, and your streak follows it.
New
- Your writing goal. Choose how often you want to write, from once to seven times a week, under My account, Writing. Below seven the streak counts weeks in which you reached your goal, so a day without writing breaks nothing.
- Shields for your streak. A long streak or a long entry earns a shield. It saves your streak over a missed day or a missed week on its own.
- A reminder when the week runs short. If you like, nexdiary reminds you when your goal for the week is getting tight, for example on Friday with two entries still open.
Fixed
- The writing page saves its text the same way however quickly you tap Save. A line break at the end could come or go depending on timing.
Update
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d --wait
No new settings; the goal is seven times a week until you change it.
nexdiary 0.1.0
The first version of nexdiary: a diary for the family on your own server. During the day you jot thoughts down in a few words, in the evening they become a page.
New
- Note by day, write in the evening. Write down what comes to mind, without minding the spelling, in the quick note on the phone or on Today. In the evening you turn it into a page in the style of a blog, by yourself or with the help of an AI that only orders and smooths. The notes always stay.
- A picture for every day. Every day has a cover: a photo of your own or one of 256 drawn illustrations, suggested by season and time of day. Choose the part of the photo you want to see.
- Photos, large and in their place. Upload photos or pick any of your Immich collection. Put them into the text, crop or turn them, open them large. My photos lists all of them with where they are used. Place and camera data are removed.
- Values, tags and questions. Mood, sleep or whatever you want to follow, from 1 to 10, with tags and small questions of the day.
- Journal, search and statistics. Browse as a blog or a timeline, search texts and notes, see streaks, values over time and your best and your worst day.
- Share a day. Share single days with people from the family. They read it and may give a heart; values and notes go along only if you tick them, and you take a share back at any time.
- Late nights and days to catch up. After midnight nexdiary asks once whether the night still belongs to yesterday. Days with notes but no page are listed to write later, and if you like, the AI prepares a draft the next morning that waits for you.
- Lock a day for good. A written day can be locked; after that nobody changes or deletes it.
- Reminders by web push. Daily at your time or after a few days of pause, with a question if you like.
- Safe, and yours alone. Everything you write is encrypted in the database with a key per person. A second factor is required by default, passkeys sign in without password and code, signed-in devices can be signed out one by one, and five wrong tries pause an account for 15 minutes. A card tells the operator whether the server is ready for the internet.
- For the operator. Accounts by invitation, sign-in through authentik or another OpenID provider, backups with upload and check, the choice of AI provider and which accounts may use AI and Immich, German and English.
