The source, the clipper command line tool, and how it is put together are in the README.
Clipper 1.0.6
Clipper runs on desert-ant-core 3.6.0, the current SDK release. Transcription is a little faster, and the first run after updating downloads a new Voz model.
Install
brew tap desert-ant-labs/tap
brew install --cask clipperbrew upgrade --cask clipper moves you to this release. Or download Clipper-1.0.6.dmg below and drag Clipper to Applications. Clipper works on macOS 26 or later on Apple Silicon.
What changed
Voz has a new decoder, and the 7 minute sample recording now transcribes at 403x realtime on an M4 Max, up from 386x in 1.0.5.
The new decoder comes with new weights, so the first recording you open after updating waits on a 463MB download of the Voz model. The Clips and card models stay as they are.
Nothing in the app itself changed.
The source, the clipper command line tool, and how it is put together are in the README.
Clipper 1.0.5
Clipper runs on desert-ant-core 3.3.1, the current SDK release. Transcription is faster, and a first run downloads the models over one connection.
Install
brew tap desert-ant-labs/tap
brew install --cask clipperbrew upgrade --cask clipper moves you to this release. Or download Clipper-1.0.5.dmg below and drag Clipper to Applications. Clipper works on macOS 26 or later on Apple Silicon.
What changed
Transcription is faster. Voz runs its decoder on the CPU while the encoder runs on the Neural Engine, and the 7 minute sample recording transcribes at 366x realtime on an M4 Max. Voz no longer drops the last words of a recording. Recordings with many audio channels, and files of several gigabytes, transcribe instead of failing.
The three models download over one shared connection on a first run.
Nothing in the app itself changed.
The source, the clipper command line tool, and how it is put together are in the README.
Clipper 1.0.4
Export a clip and the save dialog now appears. It didn't on macOS 26.
Install
brew tap desert-ant-labs/tap
brew install --cask clipperbrew upgrade --cask clipper moves you to this release. Or download Clipper-1.0.4.dmg below and drag Clipper to Applications. Clipper works on macOS 26 or later on Apple Silicon.
What changed
Exporting a clip on macOS 26 asked where to save and then showed nothing. The save dialog is drawn a different way now, and it appears. This is the fix if your exports were doing nothing.
The three models fetch in parallel on a first run, so the card model no longer waits for the others before it starts downloading.
The About window reads like the app, leads with the icon, and its license line is correct: Clipper is MIT, and the models share the Desert Ant Labs Source-Available License.
The source, the clipper command line tool, and how it is put together are in the README.
Clipper 1.0.3
Clipper takes a recording with no picture, and clips it the same way.
Install
brew tap desert-ant-labs/tap
brew install --cask clipperbrew upgrade --cask clipper moves you to this release. Or download Clipper-1.0.3.dmg below and drag Clipper to Applications. Clipper works on macOS 26 or later on Apple Silicon.
What changed
Drop an m4a, an mp3, or a wav on the window. Clipper picks clips out of what is said, so a recording with no picture is as good a source as a video. The preview is a transport rather than a picture, and the clips come out as m4a rather than as an mp4 holding a single audio track. The clipper command line tool follows the same rule.
The source, the clipper command line tool, and how it is put together are in the README.
