Use Cases: CuCrZr & OFHC-Cu

CuCrZr (Chromium Zirconium Copper) and OFHC-Cu (Oxygen-Free High Conductivity Copper) are key structural and heat sink materials in nuclear fusion reactors, particularly for plasma-facing components.

Relevance to UPXO

These materials exhibit complex grain morphologies under manufacturing (forging, rolling, extrusion) and in-service irradiation conditions. UPXO can generate representative synthetic microstructures for:

  • Baseline (unirradiated) grain structure characterisation
  • Post-irradiation microstructure evolution studies
  • FE simulation domains for thermal and mechanical analysis

Typical Grain Structure Parameters

To be populated with material-specific Monte Carlo and Voronoi parameters.

Workflows

To be populated with UPXO pipeline examples specific to CuCrZr and OFHC-Cu.
