v1.0.16 - Q&A Progress and Dashboard Hotfix

Production Database Migration

This hotfix restores the authenticated Q&A progress functionality that was unavailable after the v1.0.15 release.

The issue was caused by the required production database migration not being applied before the application release.

  • Applied the missing 0035_daffy_captain_cross.sql migration to production Neon
  • Created the required user_question_progress table
  • Verified all required table columns, indexes, constraints, and foreign keys
  • Verified that the applied migration hash matches the committed migration
  • Restored database-backed progress storage for authenticated users

Q&A Progress Restoration

  • Restored automatic Viewed status when a user opens an answer
  • Restored persistent viewed-question progress
  • Restored saved-question bookmarks
  • Restored per-topic Saved question counters
  • Restored last-opened question tracking
  • Restored progress synchronization between browser sessions and devices
  • Removed the persistent progress-loading warning caused by the missing database table
  • Restored the All questions and Saved question filters

Dashboard Reliability

  • Fixed the application error that prevented authenticated users from opening the dashboard
  • Isolated Q&A progress loading from other dashboard data
  • A temporary Q&A progress failure no longer crashes the entire dashboard
  • The dashboard continues rendering profile, quiz, achievement, and activity information when Q&A progress is unavailable
  • The Question Progress section displays its empty state when its data cannot be loaded
  • Added server-side logging for failed dashboard progress requests

Error Isolation

The dashboard previously loaded all required and optional data inside one parallel request group. A failure in the new Q&A progress query therefore interrupted the entire dashboard render.

This hotfix keeps parallel data loading while safely isolating the optional Q&A progress request.

  • Preserved parallel server-side data fetching
  • Added a safe fallback for Q&A progress loading
  • Returned an empty progress collection after a recoverable failure
  • Prevented an optional learning section from becoming a single point of failure
  • Kept database errors visible in server logs for investigation

Production Verification

  • Confirmed that the user_question_progress table exists in production
  • Confirmed all seven required columns:
    • user_id
    • question_id
    • viewed_at
    • bookmarked_at
    • last_opened_at
    • created_at
    • updated_at
  • Verified Viewed progress writes against production Neon
  • Verified dashboard progress aggregation queries
  • Ran the production database smoke test inside a transaction
  • Rolled back all smoke-test changes
  • Confirmed that no test data remained in production
  • Verified that the public Q&A page loads without the previous warning
