0.15.0 rebuilt the engine under MandoCode, and it left one thing feeling worse than before: you'd
send a message and then stare at "Thinking…" until the whole answer arrived at once. Was it
working? Was it stuck? No way to know.

This update fixes that, gives you a heads-up before a conversation gets too long, and fixes a
handful of things that were getting in your way.

Install / upgrade

dotnet tool update -g MandoCode

New here? dotnet tool install -g MandoCode. Run mandocode --doctor to check which version
you're on.

You can watch the reply being written

While the model is answering, the last few lines of its reply show up dimmed above the spinner,
so you can see it's actually doing something. When it's done, you get the full formatted answer
like always.

Replies also come out in the order things happened. If the model says "let me check the docs"
before it looks something up, you see that line, then the lookup, then the answer. Before, it was
all mashed into one block at the end.

A meter that tells you when you're running out of room

Every model can only hold so much of a conversation in mind at once. Go past that and it starts
quietly forgetting the beginning: the file you mentioned an hour ago, the thing you agreed on
earlier. Small local models hit that limit fast.

There's now a bar above the prompt showing how full the conversation is. It turns yellow, then
red. When it's getting high, type /compact. MandoCode sums up the conversation so far and
carries on from the summary, with plenty of room left. (Cloud models handle their own memory, so
for those you just see the token count.)

Big changes don't bury the approve button

When the agent wanted to change hundreds of lines, the diff scrolled the approve/deny menu right
off your screen. Now any change over 30 lines shows up in its own scrollable box (PgUp/PgDn,
Home/End) with the menu right below it. Small changes look the same as before.

Look back with /history

/history opens this session's conversation in a scrollable window. Start typing to filter it.

Fixes

  • Your context window size stays put. If you'd set a size yourself, switching models with
/model or /setup reset it to the new model's default without telling you. Now your choice
sticks, and MandoCode says so when it keeps it. You can also change it from /config now,
without memorizing a command. Pick "Automatic" (or run /config set contextLength auto) to let
MandoCode size it for each model again.
  • Reply speed is back. The summary after each reply shows tokens per second again, and a
reply that runs out of room tells you it was cut off, instead of just stopping. Both went missing
    in 0.15.0.
  • Numbered lists look right. Some models put blank lines between list items, which left every
number stranded on its own line. They sit next to their text now.

Tested

769/769 tests passing on both .NET 8 and .NET 10.

Everything is in the changelog.
