What's new

🎙️ Microphone selection

You can now choose the audio source used for dictation, in Settings → Microphone, instead of always using the system default mic.

  • List of available input devices, system default first.
  • A "System (default)" option that automatically follows the OS default mic.
  • A ↻ button to refresh the list (handy after plugging in a USB mic).
  • Automatic fallback to the default mic if the chosen device disappears (e.g. an unplugged USB headset).
  • Under the hood: a stable device id (persists across reboots/reconnections).

🔒 Permissions reminder: dictation still requires microphone access (macOS: System Settings → Privacy → Microphone; Windows: Settings → Privacy → Microphone → "Let desktop apps…").

Download the installer for your OS from the Assets below:

  • Linux: .AppImage (portable) or .deb — or nix run github:Devitek/sonora on NixOS
  • macOS: .dmg (Apple Silicon = aarch64, Intel = x64) — unsigned build (right-click → Open)
  • Windows: .msi or the NSIS .exe setup
