* Install from another source

If you downloaded the plugin from another source, place it in your project folder; the path will look like this: YourProjectName/Plugins/TextureCombiner

Quick-Start

Let's put together a simple texture: an image with text overlaid on it.

* Create TextureCombinerDataAsset

Create a DataAsset inheriting from TextureCombinerDataAsset and name it TCDA_Tutorial.

* Working with the editor

  • Open TCDA_Tutorial, and you will see an editor like this.

  • image

  • Click on +Image and select any texture.

  • image

  • Specify the canvas size and stretch the texture across the entire canvas.

  • image
  • You can resize by dragging the points, and also use the Shift and Alt keys-either individually or in combination.

  • image

  • Tap +Text and add any text.

  • image
  • image
  • You can customize the text on the right. You can also resize the text by dragging the control points. Use the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys as needed.

* Masks

  • You can use a texture or text as a mask to create unique images.

  • Let's specify the Mask Role in our text settings.

  • image
  • After this, the layer will become invisible, as it has turned into a mask.

  • Let's add any other image on top. It will be automatically applied to the mask.

  • image
  • image
  • As we can see, the texture has been applied to the text.

* Effects

  • Using effects, we can modify the image within a specific area. Let's add an effect on top.

  • image
  • As we can see, our effect has been applied to the entire area.

  • If you want the effect to apply only to the mask, set the mask's mode to UntilNextMask.

  • image
  • image

  • You can also end the mask zone by specifying "Mask End" in the Mask Role.

  • image
  • image
  • image
  • Now, all subsequent layers will no longer be applied to the mask.

* Additional mask

  • You can apply several masks in a row to achieve a more unique effect. Each subsequent mask complements the previous one.

  • For example, let's add a Noise image and use it as a mask.

  • image
  • image
  • Select the texture channels to be used for the mask.

  • image
  • As you can see, we now have two masks combined into one (text and noise texture).

* Texture export

  • Click Build Textures or Build Normals to build the texture.
