Flint 4 OpenWrt v1.3

Updated to the latest JiaY-shi flint4-support base.

Updated

  • Fixed GL-BE14000 GMAC/WAN interface naming at driver registration, eliminating the late eth2 → wan rename race.
  • Added complete SFP cage support, including SFP core, GPIO I²C and rate-select GPIOs.
  • Fixed hostapd ACS deadlock between AP MLD links.
  • Fixed MediaTek WED HW-RRO double-free during SER recovery.
  • Updated GL-BE14000 production device-tree support.
  • Updated RTL8261C 10GbE PHY handling.
  • Updated YT92xx DSA kernel configuration.

Build cleanup

  • Removed the previous custom GMAC1 factory-MAC patch; current flint4-support now provides the correct GL-BE14000 GMAC/MAC configuration natively.

Flint 4 OpenWrt Test Build v1.1

Unofficial OpenWrt snapshot build for the GL.iNet Flint 4 (GL-BE14000).

This release is based on JiaY-shi’s flint4-support branch with the required BLogic production-device fixes applied. It has been successfully compiled, flashed and tested on a production Flint 4.

What’s new in v1.1

Factory MAC address fix

Added the missing factory NVMEM MAC assignment to gmac1.

Previously, the LAN switch side could receive a randomly generated MAC address after boot. All LAN-facing interfaces now consistently use the factory LAN MAC.

Verified after flashing:

  • br-lan, eth0 and eth1 use the factory LAN MAC
  • lan1 through lan8 use the factory LAN MAC
  • sfp uses the factory LAN MAC
  • WAN retains its separate factory WAN MAC
  • Wi-Fi interfaces retain their individual factory MAC addresses
  • The previously generated random MAC address is gone

APK repository fix

The BLogic feed is now used only during compilation to build the touchscreen Panel UI.

It is no longer added as a runtime APK repository because BLogic does not host a compatible packages.adb repository.

This fixes package updates through both:

  • LuCI → System → Software
  • apk update

The installed system now uses only the official OpenWrt snapshot repositories.

Included support and features

  • GL.iNet Flint 4 / GL-BE14000 support
  • MediaTek MT7988A platform
  • YT9224 Ethernet switch
  • YT8824 2.5GbE PHYs
  • Realtek RTL8261C 10GbE PHY firmware-probe fix
  • Production-unit device-tree fixes
  • GL.iNet touchscreen Panel UI
  • Corrected touchscreen orientation
  • Touchscreen brightness control
  • MediaTek hardware flow offloading
  • MediaTek WED support
  • SQM scripts
  • CAKE
  • IFB
  • LuCI SQM interface
  • ip-full

Installation

Flash the squashfs-sysupgrade.bin image through LuCI:

System → Backup / Flash Firmware → Flash new firmware image

Keeping settings has been tested when upgrading from an earlier version of this custom Flint 4 build.

USB power-control and custom fan-control scripts are not included in the firmware image. Users who have their own scripts may preserve them through sysupgrade separately.

Warning: This is an unofficial community test build. It is not an official OpenWrt or GL.iNet release. Keep a known-good recovery image available and install it at your own risk.

Flint 4 (GL-BE14000) OpenWrt Test Build – GMAC1 MAC Fix

Flint 4 (GL-BE14000) OpenWrt Test Build

Unofficial OpenWrt test build for the GL.iNet Flint 4 (GL-BE14000).

Built from the flint4-support branch with additional fixes and packages added for testing.

What's New

GMAC1 Factory MAC Address Fix

Added the missing factory MAC assignment for gmac1 in the GL-BE14000 device tree.

&gmac1 {
	nvmem-cells = <&macaddr_ethernet 1>;
	nvmem-cell-names = "mac-address";
};

Previously gmac1 did not have an NVMEM MAC assignment, which caused the MediaTek Ethernet driver to generate a random MAC address at boot.

This could cause the LAN / br-lan MAC address to change between boots and operating systems such as Windows to repeatedly detect the router as a new network.

The Ethernet MAC assignments are now:

  • gmac2 → factory Ethernet MAC + 0
  • gmac1 → factory Ethernet MAC + 1
  • gmac0 → factory Ethernet MAC + 2

This provides a stable factory-derived MAC address for the GMAC1 / YT9224 LAN path.

Included Changes

  • GL.iNet Flint 4 / GL-BE14000 support
  • Complete Motorcomm YT9224 switch support
  • YT8824 PHY package support
  • Fixed 10G USXGMII switch link support
  • YT922x 4-byte DSA tagging
  • MediaTek PPE hardware flow offload support
  • YT9224 hardware bridge forwarding
  • MT7996 WED support
  • MT7988 wireless offload firmware
  • RTL8261C PHY firmware probe fix
  • GL-BE14000 production device-tree fixes
  • GL.iNet Panel UI
  • Touchscreen rotation fix
  • LuCI
  • SQM / CAKE support
  • GMAC1 factory MAC address fix

GL.iNet Flint 4 / GL-BE14000 OpenWrt Test Build v0.1

This is an unofficial community test build for the GL.iNet Flint 4 / GL-BE14000.

It is based on development OpenWrt support for the Flint 4 and includes additional fixes/features we have been testing on production GL-BE14000 hardware.

This is not an official OpenWrt or GL.iNet release.

Included in this build

  • GL.iNet Flint 4 / GL-BE14000 support
  • GL.iNet touchscreen / Panel UI
  • LuCI web interface
  • YT9224 switch support
  • Production GL-BE14000 device-tree fixes
  • Touchscreen orientation fixes
  • RTL8261C 10G PHY fixes
  • SQM support
  • CAKE qdisc support
  • IFB support for ingress shaping
  • ip-full

SQM / CAKE packages

Included:

luci-app-sqm
sqm-scripts
kmod-ifb
kmod-sched-cake
ip-full

SQM has been tested on the Flint 4 wan interface using CAKE.

Hardware tested

Tested on a production GL.iNet Flint 4 / GL-BE14000 with:

  • 10G WAN
  • 2.5G LAN ports
  • Ethernet switching
  • LuCI
  • Touchscreen / Panel UI
  • SQM / CAKE

Firmware file

Use:

openwrt-mediatek-filogic-glinet_gl-be14000-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

This is intended for users already running compatible OpenWrt firmware on the GL-BE14000.

Flashing

Backup your configuration first.

The sysupgrade image can normally be flashed from:

System → Backup / Flash Firmware

Settings can usually be preserved when upgrading from another compatible build.

If you experience unusual behaviour after upgrading, a clean configuration may be required.

Important warning

This is a test / development build.

Flash at your own risk.

You should have a recovery method available before flashing.

Possible issues may include:

  • regressions from development OpenWrt code
  • hardware revision differences
  • Wi-Fi or switch issues
  • package feed issues
  • incompatibility with older saved configurations

Package feed note

A bad runtime feed entry was found during testing:

https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/packages/aarch64_cortex-a53/blogic/packages.adb

That repository does not exist on the official OpenWrt snapshot server.

If apk update reports an error referencing that path, remove the blogic entry from:

/etc/apk/repositories.d/distfeeds.list

Source / build

This firmware was built from OpenWrt development sources with Flint 4 support and additional GL-BE14000 fixes.

The build workflow and source changes should be considered experimental until this support is fully upstreamed.

Please report:

  • boot problems
  • Ethernet issues
