Overview

Minor release expanding Python version compatibility and improving development tooling.

Python Compatibility

Expanded Python Support

  • Minimum Python version: 3.12+ (previously 3.13+)
  • Tested versions: Python 3.12, 3.13, 3.14
  • Uses modern type statement syntax (Python 3.12+)

Why Python 3.12+?

  • Leverages modern type alias syntax (type statement)
  • Maintains clean, state-of-the-art Python code
  • Python 3.12 (Oct 2023) has wide adoption and excellent performance
  • Supports latest Python 3.14 features

Developer Experience

CI/CD Improvements

  • ✅ GitHub Actions now tests against Python 3.12, 3.13, 3.14
  • ✅ Expanded PyPI classifier support for Python 3.12-3.14

Development Tooling

  • ✅ Updated Pyright configuration to pythonVersion: "3.12"
  • ✅ Added .ruff_cache/ and .pyright_cache/ to .gitignore

Breaking Changes

None. This release is fully backward compatible with v0.2.0 for users running Python 3.13+.

Installation

From PyPI

# Using uv (recommended)
uv pip install dialectus-engine

# Using pip
pip install dialectus-engine

From Source

git clone https://github.com/dialectus-ai/dialectus-engine.git
cd dialectus-engine
uv sync

Minimum Requirements:

  • Python 3.12+
  • httpx >= 0.28.1
  • openai >= 1.105.0
  • pydantic >= 2.11.7

Recommended:

  • uv for fast package management
  • Python 3.13 or 3.14 for best performance
