  • Shuffle Songs, the first row of Local Music, plays your whole library in shuffle from a random song.
  • Coverflow opens on the album you last had in the middle, even after the player is powered off and on.
  • Tracks of 20 minutes or more, such as mixes, audiobooks and podcasts, pick up where you left them when you play them again, even after a power-off; the last 32 are remembered.
  • Seeking in a VBR MP3 now uses the file's own seek table, so it lands within about 1% of a long file instead of minutes off.
  • iPod: turning the wheel on Now Playing shows the volume as a white bar in place of the progress bar, as on an iPod classic; the volume pop-up no longer dims the screen, on Now Playing or elsewhere.
