SimpleLauncher v1.1 – A Safer, Simpler Windows Experience for Kids

SimpleLauncher is a lightweight, custom Windows shell designed to help children use a computer safely by restricting access to unapproved applications and removing the need for a Microsoft account. Ideal for kiosks, shared PCs, or family computers.

Replaces the default Windows desktop with a controlled environment
Prevents access to unauthorized apps and system features
Supports local accounts only—no Microsoft account required
Customizable desktop shortcuts with manual placement
New in v1.1: Custom background support (Background.jpg)

📁 Installation Instructions:
Extract the contents to the root of the C: drive: C:\SimpleLauncher\

Set SimpleLauncher as the shell:
Open regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Change the Shell value from explorer.exe to: C:\SimpleLauncher\SimpleLauncher.exe

⚙️ Customizing Shortcuts:
Edit the shortcut.ini file to define your allowed apps. Example:

[Shortcut1]
FilePath="C:\Users\username\Desktop\Roblox.lnk"
X=100
Y=200

Add more entries using [Shortcut2], [Shortcut3], etc.

🖼️ Changing the Background:
Replace the default background by copying your own image into the launcher folder and naming it exactly: Background.jpg

⚠️ Tip: Always have a backup user or recovery method in case you need to revert the shell change.
