SimpleLauncher v1.3 – Safe, Customizable Windows Shell for Kids

SimpleLauncher is a lightweight Windows shell replacement designed to provide a safe, locked-down environment for children. It gives parents full control over what applications are accessible, removes the need for a Microsoft account, and now includes optional parental code protection for specific shortcuts.

📁 Installation Instructions:
Extract the launcher to any desired folder, e.g.: C:\YourFolder\SimpleLauncher\

Set SimpleLauncher as the Windows shell:
Open regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Change the Shell value from explorer.exe to: C:\YourFolder\SimpleLauncher\SimpleLauncher.exe

⚙️ Adding & Locking Shortcuts:
Edit shortcut.ini to define each shortcut and whether it requires a code to access. Example:

FilePath="C:\Users\username\Desktop\Roblox.lnk"
X=100
Y=200
RequiresCode=false

Set RequiresCode=true to protect a shortcut with the parental access code (9678 by default).

🖼️ Custom Background:
To change the desktop background, replace the included image with your own: Background.jpg
Make sure the new file is named exactly the same and placed in the same folder as SimpleLauncher.exe.

⚠️ Reminder: Have a recovery method or admin account available in case you need to revert the shell change.
