DA Media Browser 0.16.0 (beta)

The seek bar now shows where each chapter starts, a freeze with video in
the app is fixed, and the AppImage starts in about half the time.

Chapter markers on the seek bar

  • While video plays, the seek bar marks where each chapter starts.
  • Hover over a mark to see the chapter's number and name.
  • Clicking or dragging the bar still seeks as before. The marks only show
where chapters are: to move a chapter, use Manual Edit.

Fixes

  • The window could freeze with video playing in the app. This was seen
on KDE Plasma (Wayland) after leaving fullscreen and resizing the window.
The app no longer waits on mpv to answer while it draws the window, so if
mpv stalls, the picture may pause but the window keeps responding. Manual
    Edit gets the same fix.
  • Renaming a chapter in place in Manual Edit (double-clicking its name)
showed only half the text while typing. The whole name now shows.

Faster start

  • The AppImage now ships its Python code precompiled. Before, it was
compiled again on every launch. Startup to the window takes about half
as long (roughly 0.4s instead of 0.8s on a test machine), every time,
not just after the first launch.
  • The AppImage is about 5 MB larger (69 MB) as a result.

Before you start

  • Beta, no warranty. See the README and LICENSE (GPL-3.0-or-later).
  • AI features cost money. They're off until you add an API key, and each
one shows roughly what it costs, but a large library adds up. Use a key
    with a daily spending limit.
  • Needs from your system: ffmpeg, mpv and (for Blu-ray folders)
libbluray, plus a keyring if you use the AI features. Video in the app
needs X11 or XWayland (the app arranges XWayland itself on a Wayland
    desktop).
