DA Media Browser 0.20.0 (beta)
A release of small things that got in the way. The app's icon shows in
Cinnamon's menu, the window can be made narrower and remembers how you
left it, lists stay where you were in them, and search ignores accents.
The icon
- The icon was missing from Cinnamon's menu (Linux Mint), and couldn't
be picked by hand there either, although AppImage managers such as Gear
Lever showed it. The desktop recognised it as an image only by its file
name; read by its contents, as Cinnamon's menu does, a comment at the
top of the file made it look like any other XML. The comment has moved
and the picture is unchanged. If you integrated an earlier version,
remove it and integrate this one again: the menu keeps the icon copied
when the app was installed.
The window
- It can be made narrower. Manual Edit's chapter buttons sat in one
row, and that held the whole window at about 1470 pixels wide, whatever
page was showing - wider than a 1366-pixel laptop screen. They take two
rows now, and the window goes down to about 1250. - A long chapter title playing no longer widens the window until
something else plays. - Its size, which panels are open and the shelf's sort order are kept
for next time, as the Tiles or List choice already was.
Staying where you were
- Renaming, merging or nudging a chapter scrolled the chapter list, and a
selection of several chapters shrank to one. Both stay as they were. - Edit Tracklist went back to the top of the list after every title you
edited. - The queue jumped back to what's playing after any change, so removing
entries further down lost your place. - The shelf forgot which video was selected whenever it was refreshed.
Names
- Saving Edit Tracklist marked every name as given by hand, so names
from MusicBrainz, the file or the AI lost where they came from (the
coloured dot beside each). Pressing OK in Rename without changing the
name did the same. Only the names you change are marked as yours now,
as Manual Edit already did. Use Mark Name as Checked to confirm a name
as it is. - A folder or playlist with
&in its name lost it in menus: "Salt &
Iron" showed as "Salt Iron".
Search
- Accents are ignored:
cafe lumierefinds Café Lumière, and
full-width letters match ordinary ones. Japanese dakuten still count,
so か and が stay different letters. Ctrl+Fselects what's already in the search box, so typing replaces
it, andEscclears it.
Fixes
- The Repeat button never lit up for Repeat All or Repeat One, as
Shuffle does.
Before you start
- Beta, no warranty. See the README and LICENSE (GPL-3.0-or-later).
- AI features cost money. They're off until you allow them in
Settings → Privacy and add an API key, and each one shows roughly what
it costs, but a large library adds up. Use a key with a daily spending
limit. - Needs from your system: ffmpeg, mpv and (for Blu-ray folders)
libbluray, plus a keyring if you use the AI or setlist.fm. Video in the
app needs X11 or XWayland (the app arranges XWayland itself on a Wayland
desktop).
