What does a modern developer gain out of reading programming related books?
- Ability to communicate as a programmer.
You learn the language of programming which makes it possible for you to express yourself in all kinds of technical writing, be it code, documentation or something else.
Reading books forces you to remember the correct terminology and really go in depth when learning a particular topic.
Exactness and eloquence are one of the most important characteristics of great engineers and are highly appreciated in software business also.
- Quality of information.
Sure, there are a lot of books that are not that great but, if choose the right ones, the amount of knowledge and value gained from those books can be invaluable.
