Capes v1.0.0: the first public release
Superpowers for any AI. Capes is a free, open-source MCP server you deploy to your own Vercel account. It lets Claude, Codex, Cursor and any MCP client use your Gmail, Discord and X, through one private server with a dashboard.
What is in this release
- 62 tools: Gmail (17), Discord (44) and X search (1). The Discord toolkit covers messages, DMs, files, polls, threads, forums, webhooks, channels, roles, permissions, moderation, invites and the audit log.
- Owner dashboard at
/dashboard: test each connector, browse and try read-only tools, watch recent activity, copy ready-made client config, and generate your Discord invite link in one click. - One-click deploy with the Deploy button, or one installer command. No database needed.
- Works with Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any MCP client that speaks HTTP.
- Limits you control: switch a service or a single tool off, or make the whole server read-only. Every tool is labelled read, write or destructive.
- Built to be safe: arguments are validated, secrets are redacted from errors and logs, dashboard sessions are signed with CSRF protection, sign-in is rate limited, and settings fail closed.
- Open-source ready: MIT license, a guard against unreviewed changes to CI and assistant settings, a protected
mainbranch (pull request, code-owner review and green checks), secret scanning, and documentation with diagrams.
Get started
- Click Deploy with Vercel in the README, or read the Vercel guide.
- Add the credentials for the services you want (only
MCP_API_KEYis required). - Open
/dashboard, sign in, and connect your AI client.
Known limits
- Vercel stops a request after 60 seconds.
- Discord bots cannot create servers, and can edit only their own messages.
- Gmail uses an app password (one account); X search depends on a third-party scraper.
- The optional Redis settings are tested against a fake server, not yet a real database.
