Desire v0.9.0 (beta)
Desire v0.9.0 (beta)
This is a beta. A lot has changed since v0.1.3, more than fits in a quick summary, so the full changelog is still being put together and will be added here soon. If you want the steady version, stay on v0.1.3.
Highlights so far
- Spaces: project workspaces with pages, chat, tasks and voice calls.
- Mods: change and extend parts of Desire's interface.
- On-device AI tasks: object detection, depth maps, cut-outs and more, run locally.
- Image creator, built into the chat composer.
- A sharper, more capable agent across the board.
Install. Grab the file for your platform below. Builds are unsigned: on macOS (Apple Silicon), right-click the app and choose Open on first launch; on Linux, chmod +x the AppImage before running it; on Windows, click More info → Run anyway if SmartScreen warns you.
Desire runs offline out of the box. Online features are opt-in, per-feature, from inside the app.
Desire v0.1.3
Desire v0.1.3
Windows joins macOS and Linux — Desire now ships on all three major desktop platforms.
The big one: a real phone companion
The phone companion app went from a plan to something you can actually install and use tonight. It pairs with the desktop, reads your on-device capabilities (notifications, clipboard, haptics, battery, and more), and stays honest about what it can and can't do when your PC isn't reachable.
Smarter while you're away
- The background loop now thinks about several things in parallel, instead of one at a time.
- Anticipatory nudges: predictions can now proactively suggest something instead of waiting to be asked.
- A self-improvement pass that learns from what didn't work and stops repeating it.
- Email and calendar are now real inputs the loop reasons over, not just displays.
Coordination
- A second machine can now be chosen to run a task, not just this one.
- Cross-session messaging, so multiple sessions can reach each other.
Fixed tonight
- Tooltips across the whole app, which had silently stopped rendering, are back — routed through a more reliable custom tooltip instead of relying on the OS's flaky native one.
- The bottom status bar is simpler: just your name and the time, nothing else.
- Two packaged-build-only crashes (never visible in normal development, only in the installed app) are fixed.
Install. Grab the file for your platform below. Builds are unsigned: on macOS, right-click the app and choose Open on first launch; on Linux, chmod +x the AppImage before running it; on Windows, click More info → Run anyway if SmartScreen warns you.

Desire v0.1.2
Desire v0.1.2
A big customization and coordination update, plus the first real on-device model tooling.
Customization goes deeper
- Per-widget border, size, and shape controls, not just color and paint.
- A new surface material option: glass, metal, or standard.
- 5 new layout templates (Board presets) to start from.
- More ambience widgets (clock, moon, sun, and others) pickable from the library.
- Gallery backdrops can now stand alone as full backgrounds.
- Installed system fonts show up directly in the widget font picker.
Coordination and safety
- A Kanban-style board view for tracking what the agent is doing across a run.
- Cross-session messaging, so multiple sessions can reach each other.
- A resumable emergency stop: pause everything without losing your place, instead of a hard kill.
- Scheduled messages you can compose ahead of time and send later.
- Richer, better-formatted replies in chat.
On-device model tools (Apple Silicon)
- Convert models between formats, quantize them, and fine-tune your own, fully offline. No cloud GPU required.
Everyday
- Browse and connect official MCP servers from a built-in catalogue.
- Export a shareable profile with secrets stripped, kept separate from your full backup.
- Smarter automatic day and schedule reorganization.
Linux is here
Desire now ships a Linux build (.AppImage, x64 and arm64) alongside macOS. Windows is next.
Install. Grab the file for your platform below. Builds are unsigned: on macOS, right-click the app and choose Open on first launch; on Linux, chmod +x the AppImage before running it.

Desire v0.1.1
Desire v0.1.1
The headline: Desire now keeps itself current. When a newer version ships, the app shows a quiet notice on launch with a one-click link to download it. No more checking back by hand.
A lot of new ground since 0.1.0:
New
- In-app update notices. Desire checks for a newer release on launch and tells you when one is ready.
- Spreadsheets. A real grid with a live formula engine (SUM, COUNTIF, SUMIF, MEDIAN, and more).
- Marketplace. Browse and install plugins, with each one's license and permissions shown before anything runs.
- Weave. A people surface that keeps the humans in your work organized alongside everything else.
- Proving Ground. Rehearse an automation safely before it runs for real.
Customization
- Live desktop wallpapers, including audio-reactive ones that move with your sound.
- A custom widget builder you can shape by measure, meter, look, and tone.
Voice and gesture
- Voice control of both the app and the machine.
- Hand-gesture display modes (Arc and Float), with cursor control.
A sharper agent
- It can now search inside files, patch a file precisely without disturbing the rest, and pull all text out of a PDF.
- A visual learning map that shows what it is picking up.
- Model configuration gathered into one place.
Everyday polish
- A Focus / Do Not Disturb mode that quiets the proactive stream.
- Dozens of surface refinements and stability fixes.
