Tested on
A real LG TV in an installer's project: pairing with the TV's remote and pop-ups from Control4 confirmed. The driver is the same as 1.0.0-beta.1. Reports from other models and webOS versions are welcome.
What it does
- On the home network only: the TV's own local API (a WebSocket on port 3001, or 3000 on TVs before 2018). No cloud, no LG account, no ThinQ.
- Pairs once: the TV asks, you accept with the remote. The TV's key is kept in the project and never logged or shown. The driver asks the TV only for pop-ups and its power state. Works with LG's 2026 firmware (webOS 26).
- Only when the TV is on: off, in standby, or no answer within 3 seconds, the pop-up is dropped with one log line. It never turns the TV on.
- Your choice per TV: Doorbell, Camera Alerts, Doors and Gates, Alarm, Other (Doorbell and Alarm on), and Quiet Hours.
- One pop-up every 5 seconds at most, a doorbell or the alarm first.
- Text as sent, Hebrew and other right-to-left languages included.
- Find TVs: picks the TV from the ones on the network, or type its IP address.
- Programming: Show Notification (Title, Message); Notification Shown, Notification Failed;
LAST_NOTIFICATION. - With DirectorLink 1.13: the DirectorLink notification agreement, version 1 (
DIRECTORLINK_NOTIFY,DIRECTORLINK_NOTIFY_KINDS, the commandDIRECTORLINK_NOTIFY), documented in the README.
Installing
- Upload the file with Driver → Add or Update Driver or Agent.
- Give the TV a fixed IP address and turn it on.
- Search DirectorLink, add DirectorLink · LG TV Notifications to the TV's room, pick the TV in TVs Found (or type its IP address), and accept on the TV with its remote.
- Run Test Notification.
Requirements: Control4 OS 3.3.0 or newer, Composer Pro, an LG TV with webOS. Full steps: directorlink.io/drivers/lg-tv.
Updating
- From 1.0.0-beta.1: Driver → Add or Update Driver or Agent with this file. Settings, the TV's key and programming stay; the TV does not ask again.
Known issues
- The words on the TV's question are the TV's own: they may not name DirectorLink.
- No picture in the pop-up: many webOS versions show nothing at all when a pop-up carries one. A notification's picture is not used.
- Find TVs finds only TVs that are on: type the IP address when it finds nothing.
- A TV that keeps its network on in standby counts as off by its own power state; an old webOS that does not report it (webOS 2, for one) counts as on while connected.

Beta. First release. Add the driver for an LG TV, accept it once with the TV's remote, and DirectorLink's notifications (a doorbell ring, a camera alert, a door or gate opened, the alarm) pop up on the TV. Composer programming can show its own.

This beta follows LG's local webOS API as LG's Connect SDK and Home Assistant use it, and passes its tests against a fake TV, but it has not run on a real LG TV yet. It stays a beta until an installer's log confirms pairing, pop-ups (in Hebrew too), the TV in standby and reconnecting. If you try it, please send the log (see Trying the beta in the README).

- Find TVs finds only TVs that are on, and the search from a Control4 driver is not yet confirmed on a real controller: type the IP address when it finds nothing.
- A TV that keeps its network on in standby counts as off by its own power state; an old webOS that does not report it (webOS 2, for one) counts as on while connected.
