MOHAVR 0.8.5

@Disonomouss Disonomouss released this 09 Oct 08:13

Fix: the MOHAVR menu now works with Valve Index controllers.

On the Index the menu opened (look at your wrist, hold the left A) but didn't respond to the controls. Now:

  • the left stick moves through the menu and changes values;
  • either trigger or the right A selects;
  • the right B goes back or closes.

Everything else is as in 0.8.4. Installing over 0.8.4 is fine; your settings are kept.

Download: MOHAVR-0.8.5-Setup.exe (recommended) or MOHAVR-0.8.5.zip.

@Disonomouss Disonomouss released this 08 Oct 08:11

A big update: comfort options, hands-on parachute and MG42, recoil, grabbing weapons, simpler grenades, and fixes for EA app copies and the mission loadout.

Fixes

  • EA app copies that wouldn't start the mod: some EA copies' MOHA.exe has a different file checksum (a newer signature, or a 4 GB patch tool). The mod used to stand down on it; now it only notes it and starts, as long as the game's code matches.
  • The mission loadout: with a gun's list open, move with the left stick and pick with A. The game's own list took the first input as the pick, so with controllers you could never reach the third gun.
  • The damage flash: the screen goes red again when you're hit (and at low health, explosions, medkits). The game's effect was never drawn in VR. Menu: Comfort → Damage flash (on).
  • Taking the headset off pauses the game (also opening the Quest or SteamVR dashboard).

New

  • Simple grenades (the new default): hold the grip at the grenade holster to take one, press that hand's trigger once (pin out, fuse burning), let go of the grip in a throwing motion. The old way is under Hands → Grenades: classic.
  • Recoil: each shot kicks the muzzle up in your hand by the gun's own kick from the game. Weapons → Recoil (off, 50-200 %).
  • Grab pickup: reach for a dropped weapon, a weapon on a rack, or an ammo or grenade crate, and squeeze a free hand's grip on it.
  • Mounted MG42: your head now raises and lowers it. Or switch Weapons → Mounted MG42 to hands: grip the handle and push it like the real gun; B gets you off.
  • The parachute by hand (Comfort → Parachute: hands): hold both grips, pull one down to turn, both to slow, a quick hard pull of both to flare.
  • A pulse in your hand per shot.
  • Resolution presets for common headsets (General → Resolution; applies at the next start).
  • Comfort: physical crouch, a vignette while the stick moves you, and seated play (Comfort tab; all off by default).
  • The menu is tidied into six tabs: General, Comfort, Weapons, Reload, Hands, HUD.
  • More controllers bound directly: Vive Cosmos, Pico 4, first-generation WMR, Vive wands; an RGBA fallback for runtimes without the usual swapchain format.
  • Wrist panels dim when the gun passes in front of them; the desktop mirror shows the HUD; dropped magazines and rounds stop at tables and walls.

Installing over 0.8.3 is fine; your settings are kept.

Download: MOHAVR-0.8.4-Setup.exe (recommended) or MOHAVR-0.8.4.zip.

A second way to open the MOHAVR menu: look at your wrist and hold X. For controllers whose menu button the VR runtime keeps for itself (for example the HP Reverb G2 under SteamVR), and Valve Index controllers.

  • Turn your off hand palm down and look at the wrist HUD. While it's showing, X works like the left menu button:
    • hold X: the MOHAVR menu;
    • tap X: the game's pause menu;
    • while the MOHAVR menu is open, a tap of X closes it.
  • In left-hand mode it's A (the wrist HUD is then on your right wrist).
  • Pressing X while looking at your wrist doesn't throw a grenade. X anywhere else still does.
  • [Controls] WristMenu=0 in MOHAVR.ini turns it off.

Everything else is as in 0.8.2 (the EA app's version of the game, the Reverb G2's controllers). Installing over 0.8.2 is fine; your settings are kept.

@Disonomouss Disonomouss released this 07 Oct 02:58

Now works with the EA app's version of the game, and binds the HP Reverb G2's controllers directly.

  • EA app: the EA app sells the same game build as Steam, so everything works the same.
    • Setup finds the game in the EA app as well as in Steam.
    • Start the game from the EA app as usual. It first shows the game's own settings window: press Play.
    • The EA app installs under Program Files. Setup asks for administrator rights. With the zip, right-click install.cmd (and uninstall.cmd) and choose "Run as administrator".
    • The 4 GB memory option works on the EA version too. If the EA app's "Repair" restores the original exe, run setup again.
  • HP Reverb G2 (for example through SteamVR with the Oasis driver): its controllers are now bound like Touch controllers, with the same buttons. SteamVR must be the active OpenXR runtime (SteamVR Settings > OpenXR).
    • If a button does nothing, MOHAVR-host.log (next to MOHA.exe) says which profile each hand was bound as. Buttons can be rebound in SteamVR > Controller Bindings.
  • Updating from 0.8.1 is fine; your settings are kept. If you're switching from Steam to the EA app, setup points at the EA game.

MOHAVR 0.8.0

@Disonomouss Disonomouss released this 05 Oct 04:10

MOHAVR 0.8.0: VR for Medal of Honor: Airborne (Steam). A test build.

Install

Download MOHAVR-0.8.0-Setup.exe and run it.

  • It finds the game through Steam and adds three files next to MOHA.exe. Nothing of the game's is changed.
  • Windows may warn about an unknown publisher (the setup isn't code-signed): choose "More info", then "Run anyway".
  • To uninstall, use Windows Settings > Apps > MOHAVR.

Manual install: MOHAVR-0.8.0.zip, then double-click install.cmd.

Your in-headset settings are kept when you install, update or uninstall.

New since 0.7.0

  • Guns in your hands, with arms that reach to them and either hand able to hold the gun.
  • Holsters on your body: shoulders, hips, chest, lower back and an ammo pouch. You choose what each holds, and can
    move them and show or hide their rings.
  • Two-handed aiming at the foregrip.
  • Reloading by hand for every gun: the magazine out, a new one from the pouch, in, and the slide, bolt or pump
    worked. The M12's pump is its foregrip, and the Garand takes an en-bloc clip. Racking a loaded gun throws its live
    round out, and that round is spent. A one-grab pouch reload is an option.
  • Off-hand weapons while the gun stays in your other hand: grenades (pin, cook, throw), a pistol (or the gun hand
    pistol's twin), and the MP40's knife.
  • Melee by swinging: the gun's butt, a bayonet, or the knife.
  • Scopes you raise to your eye on the Springfield, G43, StG44 and M18, at realistic or the game's zoom.
  • The HUD on your wrist: health and the compass on one side, weapon and grenades on the other. A screen panel is
    still an option.
  • The menu has four tabs (General, Weapons, Hands, HUD) and adjusts all of the above.
  • Crouch is now the right stick click.

Known issues

  • StG44: working the cocking handle doesn't open the ejection port. In the game's model the bolt and the dust cover
    are part of the gun's body.
  • Wrist HUD: the panels draw over the gun or arm when they pass in front of the wrist.
  • Levels: the knife and the ejected rounds use other guns' models from the game. They were checked in the first
    levels only.

The README (in the setup, and in the Start menu) has the controls, the menu and the settings.

@Disonomouss Disonomouss released this 05 Oct 09:01

Fixes the crash in the first mission. In VR the game ran out of memory a few minutes into a mission. It's a 32-bit game, so it can only use 2 GB.

  • Setup has a new option, "Let the game use up to 4 GB of memory". It's ticked by default; leave it ticked.
    • It sets one flag in MOHA.exe's header.
    • The original exe is kept and put back when you uninstall (or untick the option and run setup again).
    • The zip's install.cmd does the same (install.ps1 -Keep2GB leaves the exe alone).
  • If Steam's "Verify integrity of game files" restores the original exe, run setup again.
  • MOHAVR.log now says memory: MOHA.exe large address aware: yes when the option is on.

Everything else is as in 0.8.0. Installing over 0.8.0 is fine; your settings are kept.

Download: MOHAVR-0.8.1-Setup.exe (recommended) or MOHAVR-0.8.1.zip.
