DisplayXR v2.0.0
[2.0.0] - 2026-07-03
Provider-only (breaking). The custom IUnityXRDisplay display provider is now the sole rendering path. The legacy OpenXR API-layer hook and the standalone (SA) editor-preview session/window — soft-deprecated in v1.24.0 — are hard-removed (#166, PR #177). Play Mode runs the provider directly and is the preview; there is no separate preview window. Apps that referenced the removed hook/SA/preview symbols must migrate to the provider surface before upgrading.
Removed (breaking)
- OpenXR API-layer hook —
DisplayXRFeatureanddisplayxr_hooks.cppdeleted. Re-homed glue moved todisplayxr_native_shared.cpp; native headers renamed (displayxr_hooks.h→displayxr_exports.h,displayxr_hooks_internal.h→displayxr_backend.h). - Standalone (SA) editor-preview session + preview window —
DisplayXRPreview*/GameViewOverlayC# and the SA preview code paths removed. - Removed public native exports —
displayxr_request_display_mode,displayxr_standalone_*, and theDisplayXRPreviewInputsurface are gone. The SA render-to-atlas core (displayxr_standalone*) is kept on disk but not compiled (dormant), reserved as the seed for a future many-view "quilt" render path.
Added
- ADR-007 render-path-by-view-count guard — documents the provider (≤8 views) vs future quilt (>8 views) split; the provider emits a one-shot WARN when a display advertises more than 8 views (Unity's
IUnityXRDisplaycaps at 8 views/frame).
Fixed
- Click-mask —
displayxr_set_canvas_rectre-homed (commit 0c3ee9b) after the hook translation unit was removed, restoring the canvas-rect / hit-mask path under the provider.
Changed
- Docs +
CLAUDE.mdare provider-only — hook/SA/preview-window references retired; superseded ADRs marked historical.docs~/architecture/xr-display-provider.mdis the current reference.
