@Distortions81 Distortions81 released this 28 Aug 14:23

goThoom 47 changes since test46.

New and improved:

  • Simplified the Scripts and Legacy Macros windows into resizable lists with compact info controls and stable scrolling while enabling or disabling entries.
  • Added persistent per-player and global script selections, stored alongside the scripts without placing personal settings under version control.
  • Embedded the example scripts so an empty Scripts folder is populated automatically without overwriting existing scripts.
  • Added an option for characters to receive shadows cast by other characters in direct sunlight.
  • Added a searchable command palette for settings, windows, scripts, player actions, and commands, available from the toolbar or Ctrl-Shift-P.
  • Added /setting search, get, set, and reset commands for inspecting and changing settings by name.
  • Added optional per-character profiles for window layout, appearance, rendering, audio, notifications, and related settings; logins use shared global settings by default.
  • Expanded character management on the Login window with Add, Edit, and Delete controls. Editing can change the password, password saving, and whether settings are kept separate.
  • Added the Free Demo as the final character-list entry with its classic newbie-brown appearance.
  • Improved the startup screen with clearer progress, activity details, cleaner alignment, and a test delay flag for inspecting it.
  • Added an extensive online user manual and a dedicated downloads page with current release notes and access to the complete release history.

Files and upgrades:

  • Windows and Linux now keep settings, characters, scripts, macros, recordings, themes, logs, and downloaded assets in the platform user-data folder instead of beside the application. Existing portable data is copied once without deleting or overwriting the originals.
  • macOS continues using its existing ~/Library/Containers/com.goThoom.client location.
  • Release ZIPs now contain only the executable or macOS app bundle; writable files and downloaded resources remain outside the application.
  • Extracted applications include the release number in their filename, such as goThoom-47.exe, goThoom-47, and goThoom-47.app.
  • Added an Advanced Settings button to open the active user-data folder, and made migrated or newly added custom themes appear in the theme selectors.

Fixes:

  • Fixed the bundled Rank Decoder script so matching rank messages produce console output and notifications, including when chat bubbles are routed to the Console.
  • Fixed script and macro checkboxes jumping their lists back to the top or growing the bottom button panel.
  • Fixed saved script selections being cleared during startup or shutdown.
  • Fixed live time-of-day state leaking into movie playback by clearing lighting state on disconnect and movie exit.
  • Prevented movie playback from starting while connected to or connecting with the game server.
  • Suppressed notification prompts, desktop notifications, notification beeps, and think-message overlays while seeking through movies.
  • Kept contact shadows visible near character and scenery light sources.
  • Allowed characters to be added without a password so the password can be requested when connecting.
  • Removed unnecessary outer scrollbars from confirmation and error popups, including Confirm Quit.
  • Kept the startup screen on the embedded goThoom artwork even when the Clan Lord splash option or a custom in-game splash is active.
  • Updated the in-client update action to open the goThoom downloads page.

Technical changes:

  • Added regression coverage for script persistence and embedded examples, macro and script window layout, rank-message delivery, character shadow interaction, movie connection isolation, time-of-day reset, login layout and demo behavior, optional passwords, startup progress, popup sizing, data migration, and custom theme discovery.
  • Reorganized ignored build outputs, caches, downloaded resources, user state, logs, and local development files.
