Lucid Sentence 0.1.8-preview
What's new
- You can start new documents again. The app no longer opens straight into the sample. It opens on a start screen with Blank document, New note, Open…, and Recent. The sample is now just Tour: Quarterly Notes.
- Blank document opens a new Word document (
Document1.docx,Document2.docx, …) that you can type in and save with Save or Save As. - New note opens a blank notes page (
Notes1.docx, …) where you can write with the pen, type, and record. - Tapping Notes while a Word document is open now starts a new note instead of only showing a message. The Notes bar also has a New note button.
- Recordings now belong to the document you made them in, so a new note starts with no recordings.
- Blank document opens a new Word document (
Everything from 0.1.7-preview is here too: "Made with Lucid Sentence" on exported files (you can turn it off), open and save .docx with pictures, tables, headers and footers, print and PDF, spell check in 5 languages, the opt-in offline AI assistant, and per-CPU Android downloads.
On an older 32-bit (armv7) Android phone still on 0.1.3-preview or earlier, download Lucid-Sentence-Android-armv7.apk once yourself; updates work after that.
This is still a preview: not every ribbon command works with Word documents yet, handwriting inside Word documents is coming later, and the apps have had little testing on real devices.
Preview build for testing. Lucid Sentence opens, edits, and saves .docx files with the ONLYOFFICE engine on your device. Not every ribbon command works with Word documents yet.
These installers are not code-signed yet, so your system will warn the first time you open them:
- macOS (
Lucid-Sentence-macOS.dmg, Apple silicon and Intel): drag the app to Applications, then right-click it and choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 and later, if that doesn't offer Open: try once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. - Windows (
Lucid-Sentence-Windows-Setup.exeor.msi): if SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. - Android (
Lucid-Sentence-Android.apk, for nearly all phones and tablets): when asked, allow your browser or Files app to install unknown apps, then tap Install. Older 32-bit phones useLucid-Sentence-Android-armv7.apk; emulators and Chromebooks with Intel or AMD chips useLucid-Sentence-Android-x86_64.apk. - Linux: make
Lucid-Sentence-Linux.AppImageexecutable and run it, or install the.deb. - iPhone and iPad: open the web app in Safari and choose Add to Home Screen (see the README).
Updates. From v0.1.1-preview on, the desktop apps check for updates on launch and offer Restart to update (updates are signed and verified before they install). The Android app checks GitHub Releases on launch and offers to download the new APK; Android APKs are now signed with a permanent release key, so later versions install over this one. If you have v0.1.0-preview installed (Android or desktop), install this version by hand once: on Android, uninstall v0.1.0-preview first, because it was signed with a temporary key. On older 32-bit Android phones, download Lucid-Sentence-Android-armv7.apk by hand once. The home-screen web app offers Reload for new version when one is ready.
Checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt. Full install steps: README → Download.

What's new
- "Made with Lucid Sentence" on exported files. Saved
.docxfiles and exported PDFs get a slim line at the top of page 1 with a link to Lucid Sentence:- PDF: it sits above the page margin and never covers your text. It doesn't print, readers can hide it in their viewer, and a short note about it can be closed.
.docx: it goes in the first-page header, so it's one line to delete, and your body text isn't changed.- Turn it off under File > Options > Saving and exporting.
Everything from 0.1.6-preview is here too: documents open in the apps (with progress and Retry if something goes wrong), open and save .docx with pictures, tables, headers and footers, print and PDF, spell check in 5 languages, the opt-in offline AI assistant, and per-CPU Android downloads.

Lucid Sentence 0.1.6-preview
What's new
- Documents open in the apps again. In 0.1.5-preview, the Android and desktop apps could get stuck on "Opening…" when you opened a
.docxor started a new document. The app's security settings kept its own built-in document engine from loading. Fixed, and the engine still runs entirely on your device, offline from the first launch. - No more endless "Opening…". While a document opens, Lucid Sentence shows what it's doing. If something goes wrong, it says what happened and offers Retry.
Everything from 0.1.5-preview is here too: open and save .docx (pictures included), tables, headers and footers, print and PDF, spell check in 5 languages, the opt-in offline AI assistant, and smaller per-CPU Android downloads.

Lucid Sentence 0.1.4-preview
What's new in 0.1.4-preview
Lucid Sentence now opens and saves real Word documents. The ONLYOFFICE document engine runs inside the app, on your device, with no server and no account.
- Open and save
.docx: File › Open, Save, and Save As use your system's file dialogs (or the browser's, with a download fallback). Files saved by Microsoft Word open with their styles, lists, tables, pictures, sections, and comments. - Tables: Insert › Table, then the Table Design and Table Layout tabs: insert and delete rows and columns, merge and split cells.
- Pictures: Insert › Pictures from your device; the Picture Format tab appears when one is selected.
- Headers and footers: Insert › Header, Footer, and Page Number, with the Header & Footer tab.
- Print and PDF: Ctrl+P prints the laid-out pages, and File › Export › PDF saves a PDF with its fonts embedded. In the desktop and Android apps, Print saves a PDF for you to print.
- Spell check in 5 languages: English (US and UK), Spanish, French, and German, all on the device. Review › Spelling (F7) and the right-click menu offer suggestions.
- Offline AI assistant (opt-in): Review › Assistant can rewrite, fix grammar, summarize, shorten, and expand text, and Tell Lucid turns a plain request into a command. It is off until you turn it on and download a model (Qwen3.5, 0.5 to 1.3 GB, once). Everything runs on your device: nothing you write leaves it. For now the assistant works on notes pages; Word documents in the engine come next.
- Smaller Android downloads: one APK per kind of processor.
Lucid-Sentence-Android.apkis for nearly all phones and tablets (64-bit ARM).
Older 32-bit Android phones (armv7): the in-app update offers the 64-bit APK, which won't install on these phones. Download Lucid-Sentence-Android-armv7.apk from this page once; later updates then pick the right file.
Still a preview. Not every ribbon command works with Word documents yet, and these builds have had little testing on real phones, tablets, and computers. Please report problems.

What's new in 0.1.3-preview
Notes mode and Draw controls on tablets now respond to touch and pen. On Android tablets, many buttons ignored taps because they were rebuilt under the finger. Every Notes, pen toolbar, audio, status bar, and header control now acts when you lift your finger or pen.
- Notes bar: Write/Type, paper styles (blank, lined, grid, dotted) and paper colors (remembered), and Magnifier, which now sits above the bar instead of covering it.
- Convert to text and Search ink use on-device handwriting recognition: the system recognizer where available, or a bundled offline engine (Tesseract). English, works best on printed or neat handwriting. Nothing leaves your device.
- Audio notes on Android: the app now asks for microphone permission. Record, play/pause, drag to scrub, and tap a stroke to hear what was said while you wrote it.
- Draw tab: Ink to Shape (lines, triangles, rectangles, polygons, circles, ellipses), Drawing Canvas, Ink Replay, and Add Pen now work. Ink to Math shows a "coming soon" message.
- No more silent buttons: commands that need the document engine say "… arrives with the document engine". Picture and table commands tell you to select a picture or table first.
Preview build for testing. Lucid Sentence runs the editor UI on a sample page. Opening and saving your own .docx files arrive when the document engine is wired in.

Full Changelog: v0.1.2-preview...v0.1.3-preview
Lucid Sentence 0.1.2-preview
What's new: stylus engine
This preview rebuilds pen and touch ink for the Draw tab and Notes mode:
- Pen input: pressure, tilt, and smoother fast strokes (every sample the device sends is kept). Predicted points hide some of the lag while you write.
- Pen buttons: hold the S Pen side button (or turn a pen to its eraser end) to erase. If you press it in the middle of a stroke, the ink you've drawn so far stays and the rest erases.
- Palm rejection: once a pen is detected, only the pen draws. Resting palms and large contacts are ignored, and a finger stroke that turns into a two-finger pinch is removed.
- Faster rendering: ink is drawn into canvas layers, so long notes stay smooth.
- Highlighter: sits under the text, and overlapping strokes of one color no longer get darker. Near-straight highlighter strokes snap to a straight line.
- Straight lines: hold the pen still for a moment before lifting to straighten a stroke.
Testers: please report vanishing strokes
Strokes that the system interrupts are now discarded instead of kept, which drops palm marks. If a pen stroke disappears right after you draw it, especially with an S Pen on a Galaxy S26 or Tab, please open an issue with:
- your device and Android version
- whether you used the app or the browser
- what you were doing (writing fast, using the side button, resting your hand, and so on)
Android: this version installs over 0.1.1-preview. The app offers the update on launch.
