v3.0.2 - Grocy Pro
Fixes setup on systems that still have the old Grocy integration installed.
Fixed
- Adding Grocy Pro aborted with a raw
restart_required, even after a restart. The old Grocy integration pins grocy-py 0.1.0 and Grocy Pro pinned 1.3.0. Both provide the samegrocyPython module, so Home Assistant kept switching the installed version and the old one stayed loaded. Grocy Pro now ships its own copy of grocy-py 1.3.0 (MIT) and no longer uses the installed one. It works next to the old integration, and Move my old Grocy setup works while the old integration is still installed. A leftover Restart Home Assistant repair from 3.0.1 is removed automatically. - "Detected blocking call to listdir / read_text / open inside the event loop" from the 3.0.1 version check, which is gone. The tests now fail on any file I/O in the event loop; no other cases were found.
Upgrade
Update in HACS and restart Home Assistant. Then add Grocy Pro and pick Move my old Grocy setup. Afterwards you can remove the old Grocy integration from HACS.
If a HACS download fails with "No manifest.json file found 'custom_components/grocy/manifest.json'": remove the repository in HACS, delete /config/custom_components/grocy if it is still there, restart Home Assistant, add https://github.com/DonTranQuiL/grocy-pro again and download.
v3.0.1 - Grocy Pro
Bug fix release for people upgrading from Grocy 2.x.
Fixed
- "Error occurred loading flow for integration grocy_pro: cannot import name 'EntityType' from 'grocy'". The old Grocy integration used grocy-py 0.1.0, which provides the same
grocyPython module. Home Assistant installs the grocy-py 1.3.0 that Grocy Pro needs, but Python keeps the old version in memory until Home Assistant restarts. Grocy Pro now loads anyway and shows a Restart Home Assistant repair (and a clear message when you add the integration) instead of failing. After the restart everything works. - The "Detected blocking call to import_module ... config_flow inside the event loop" warning came from that failed import and is gone too.
HACS: download fails with the old grocy path
HACS keeps the folder it computed for this repository (custom_components/grocy) in memory until Home Assistant restarts. If a download fails with "No manifest.json file found 'custom_components/grocy/manifest.json'", or custom_components/grocy ended up empty without a custom_components/grocy_pro:
- In HACS, open the repository > menu > Remove.
- Delete
/config/custom_components/grocyif it is still there. - Restart Home Assistant.
- HACS > menu > Custom repositories > add
https://github.com/DonTranQuiL/grocy-pro(Integration) and download Grocy Pro. - Restart Home Assistant, then add Grocy Pro (Settings > Devices & services) and pick Move my old Grocy setup.
Coming from 2.x for the first time? Restart Home Assistant before downloading 3.x in HACS and follow the upgrade steps.
v3.0.0 - Grocy Pro
Important
HACS: if a download fails with "No manifest.json file found 'custom_components/grocy/manifest.json'", HACS still has the old grocy folder on record. Remove the repository from HACS, restart Home Assistant, then add https://github.com/DonTranQuiL/grocy-pro again and download Grocy Pro.
Why the rename
HACS kept saying the repository was "removed by the owner". 2.x used the domain and folder grocy, the same as the original custom-components/grocy integration, which HACS has on its removed list, so HACS applied that notice to this repository too. 3.0 has its own domain: grocy_pro ("Grocy Pro").
Upgrading from 2.x
- In HACS, remove the old Grocy entry (menu > Remove). If HACS still lists it as removed, remove it there too.
- Delete
/config/custom_components/grocyif it is still there. - Add
https://github.com/DonTranQuiL/grocy-proas a custom repository (Integration), download Grocy Pro and restart Home Assistant. - Settings > Devices & services > Add integration > Grocy Pro > Move my old Grocy setup. This reuses the URL and API key and removes the old entry, so
sensor.grocy_*entity IDs and history are kept. - Change
grocy.*actions in automations and scripts togrocy_pro.*. - Remove the old
/local/grocy-action-card.jsdashboard resource and/config/www/grocy-action-card.js. The card now comes with the integration (Grocy Pro shows a repair if the old copy is still there).
Full details: README.
New
- Calendar entity from Grocy's iCal feed.
- The dashboard card loads automatically, follows your theme, has a visual editor and new options (
title,show_pictures,show_log,confirm_delete). - Re-authentication, Reconfigure, diagnostics, Dutch translation.
add_products_by_nameaccepts unique partial names;remove_product_in_shopping_listtakes an amount.
Improved
- Only downloads data when Grocy's database changed (checked every 30 s, full refresh at least every 5 min).
- grocy-py 1.3.0, 20 s timeout on every Grocy request. Requires Home Assistant 2026.4 or newer.
- Item lists are no longer stored by the recorder.
Fixed
- Card: "Nothing here ??" (mangled emoji), items that stayed hidden until a reload (recurring chores disappeared), crash when removing a shopping list item, unescaped Grocy text, styles leaking into the dashboard, re-rendering on every Home Assistant state change, no feedback on errors, delete without confirmation.
- Product pictures, a doubled port (
host:9192:9192), empty chore/battery/meal names, corrupted compressed picture responses, stack traces instead of readable errors.

v3.0.0-beta.1 - Grocy Pro (beta)
Warning
Beta. This is the first test build of Grocy Pro 3.0. It renames the integration, so read the upgrade steps before installing. In HACS, open Grocy Pro, use the menu > Redownload and turn on Show beta versions to see it. Please report problems in Issues.

- Delete
/config/custom_components/grocyif it is still there. - Add

This reuses the URL and API key and removes the old entry, so
