@DontMovePlease DontMovePlease released this 06 Oct 09:21

Rovarin v0.3.0 Experimental Alpha introduces a major overhaul to application management and remote desktop utility:

  • Applications Manager & Uninstaller: Dedicated Quick Launch rail for pinning and launching favorite apps via Start Menu, App Paths, and AppX; clean separation of Installed software uninstaller with reviewed removal workflow.
  • High-fidelity Windows App Icons: Real local icon extraction for desktop and Microsoft Store applications with clean SVG fallbacks.
  • Clean Organization & Sanitization: Low-level Windows system components separated and hidden by default; raw publisher certificate strings and opaque package identifiers sanitized to friendly human names.
  • Persistent Selection Tray: Viewport-docked selection tray with live count, total size calculation, expandable review sheet, and batch uninstallation.
  • Responsive Mobile Layout: Clamped multi-line titles, dedicated metadata rows, clean mobile grid breakpoints, and touch targets >= 44px.
  • Reliability & Performance: PIN write throttling, Windows file collision protections, and IntersectionObserver-deferred icon loading to eliminate network starvation.

Rovarin 0.2.2 — Experimental Alpha

@DontMovePlease DontMovePlease released this 05 Oct 00:18

Rovarin 0.2.2 is here — with a cleaner live Processes view, an Applications manager, and more room to work.

What changed:

  • Processes groups app instances, updates live, and supports search and Pause/Resume. End task and the separate process-tree action retain their identity checks.
  • Applications adds List/Grid views, readable sizes, search, and confirmed supported uninstall actions.
  • The pinned top bar shows your current page; Rovarin branding lives in the drawer.
  • Local PIN Recovery reports startup problems and can find Node without relying on an old Explorer PATH.
  • Desktop resize edges are accessible. Preview refresh waits for the old window to close.
  • Automatic Tailscale checks remain enabled. Local desktop/PIN setup does not require Tailscale; remote access requires it connected on both devices.

Validation: all eight regression suites, native/mobile UI checks, and focused installer-migration safety checks passed. The real public 0.2.0 → 0.2.2 VM upgrade test was not completed; this Experimental Alpha is published at the owner's request without that installed validation. Back up important data before upgrading.

The Windows installer remains unsigned. Verify the published checksum and keep Windows security enabled.

@DontMovePlease DontMovePlease released this 04 Oct 09:55

Rovarin — Your PC in your pocket.

Experimental Alpha for Windows 11. Download RovarinSetup.exe below and run it; the installer preserves existing PINs and settings when upgrading.

What's improved

  • Secure built-in Updates in Settings, including Experimental Alpha release discovery and SHA-256-verified installer downloads. Updates remain native-desktop-only; automatic checking is optional, and installation requires your approval.
  • Midnight Glass styling shared by the Windows app and mobile interface, with smoother mobile navigation and onboarding.
  • Compact native unlock panel with integrated dragging, minimize/exit controls, rounded corners, stable restore sizing, and seamless current/legacy PIN entry.
  • Configuration and local PIN Recovery hardening, plus a fix for a stale legacy uninstall record blocking an otherwise fresh installation.

Validation

Fresh Windows VM installation and actual public 0.1.1 → 0.2.0 upgrade passed. PIN, settings, native trust, and updater preference were preserved; authentication, dashboard, SSE/leases, shortcuts, registration, and uninstall were checked.

Before installing

  • This is an unsigned Experimental Alpha, not a production-readiness claim.
  • Local desktop use works without Tailscale. Secure remote/mobile access requires Tailscale on both devices; it is not bundled.
  • Enhanced CPU temperature support is optional and hardware-dependent.
  • Source-available under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0; third-party licenses remain intact.

Rovarin 0.1.1 — Experimental Alpha

@DontMovePlease DontMovePlease released this 03 Oct 04:36

Rovarin — Your PC in your pocket.

Experimental Alpha for Windows 11 x64. One native Windows app and one shared dashboard for your remote devices. Source-available under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0; third-party terms remain unchanged.

Download RovarinSetup.exe. Local use does not require Tailscale; secure remote access requires Tailscale on both devices. The installer is unsigned and Windows may show a warning. Do not bypass an organizational security policy.

This is the product-identity migration from PC Monitor. Existing installations preserve the canonical PIN, security preferences, protected desktop trust, temperature preferences and window settings. The trusted installer migrates data into Rovarin and updates Windows shortcuts/registration. Unknown user files are retained. No driver is installed unless explicitly selected.

Version 0.1.1 gives the Rovarin installer and source download a matching new tag without rewriting the historical v0.1.0 release. Authentication, Tailscale restrictions, adaptive leases, maintenance allowlists and process identity protection remain in place.

Verified locally: all eight regression suites plus isolated real legacy upgrade, fresh install, native WebView2/shared frontend, authentication/SSE/leases, port fallback, normal/remote uninstall and reinstall tests. Physical mobile connectivity, additional clean Windows machines, real sign-in startup and optional driver/UAC/sensor behavior still require manual validation. This is not a production-ready release.

PC Monitor 0.1.0 — Experimental Alpha

A Windows 11 x64 PC monitor with a native desktop application and remote access through your own Tailscale network. One backend. One shared desktop/mobile frontend.

Download

Download PCMonitorSetup.exe under Assets below. The Node runtime is bundled; no separate Node/npm installation is needed. Local desktop use works without Tailscale. Install Tailscale separately on both devices for remote access.

Fresh installs generate your own PIN/configuration. Startup at Windows sign-in is enabled by default and can be disabled during install. The installer does not include developer credentials, private Tailscale addresses, runtime state or personal project Markdown documents.

Included

  • Compact Overview, focused graphs, CPU/RAM/storage/network monitoring and NVIDIA telemetry where supported.
  • Processes with stable selection, Freeze/Resume and identity-safe End Task.
  • Allowlisted Maintenance & Repair with logs/results, Diagnostics and copyable compatibility reports.
  • Native desktop/tray, local Setup/PIN Recovery, optional CPU temperature support and settings-preserving upgrade/uninstall.
  • Demand-driven telemetry: no active client lease means no continuous sampling.

Before trying it

This is an experimental alpha, not a production-ready release. The installer is unsigned; Windows may display SmartScreen or unknown-publisher warnings. Optional sensors/tools depend on hardware and permissions. Enhanced CPU temperature uses the approved provider and optional signed PawnIO package, which can require UAC. You can skip it and use PC Monitor without CPU temperature.

Keep the server restricted to localhost/Tailscale; do not port-forward it. Authenticated maintenance and End Task can modify the PC. End Task targets one verified process identity, not a process tree or a respawned process.

Broader clean-machine, physical mobile, real Windows sign-in and optional driver/UAC/reboot validation remains outstanding.

Verified artifact

All eight regression suites and guarded isolated Windows installation, upgrade, uninstall and reinstall checks passed for this build. Dist/publish bytes, build inputs and payload/source hashes were checked. This is local isolated testing, not a claim of clean-VM or physical-iPhone validation.

The checksum and secret-free release metadata are attached. Source is available for inspection and noncommercial modification under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0, not OSI open source. Third-party terms and earlier MIT grants remain intact.
