LED panel gerbers

The v2 Aristo D2 panel has no front silkscreen; the datasheet stays on the back. MCP tools are unchanged from 0.1.0-30.

Install:

sudo dpkg -i kicad-mcp_0.1.0-31_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

Toggle the kicad-mcp MCP server off/on in Cursor after installing. The autorouter companion kicad-routing-tools_0.20.4-2_amd64.deb is unchanged — take it from the v0.1.0-8 release.

Silk punch at vias

Plotting silk on F.Silkscreen / B.Silkscreen is punched where the stroke would sit on a same-side pad (0.15 mm), a hole, or a via drill (JLCPCB 0.18 mm). A letter on a hole is gapped; the rest of the line stays BoardText. add_text uses the same path. Cmts.User is not checked.

Install:

sudo dpkg -i kicad-mcp_0.1.0-30_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

Toggle the kicad-mcp MCP server off/on in Cursor after installing. The autorouter companion kicad-routing-tools_0.20.4-2_amd64.deb is unchanged — take it from the v0.1.0-8 release.

Silk overlays and the WS2812B-MINI panel

Overlay tables and lines on F.Silkscreen / B.Silkscreen so a back datasheet can plot. Silk that would sit on a same-side pad or hole is gapped (JLCPCB 0.15 mm) instead of refused. Mounting-hole pads are copper-only so soldermask stays closed.

contrib/aristo-d2-led-panel-v2/ is the 112-LED drop-in Aristo D2 head (WorldSemi WS2812B-MINI-JT01/W) with gerbers, BOM, and CPL.

Unfilled overlay outlines (Cmts.User) still check a cover without becoming a cutout.

Install:

sudo dpkg -i kicad-mcp_0.1.0-29_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

Toggle the kicad-mcp MCP server off/on in Cursor after installing. The autorouter companion kicad-routing-tools_0.20.4-2_amd64.deb is unchanged — take it from the v0.1.0-8 release.

Pin coverage — check_pins

The ERC substitute for the schematic-less workflow. After connect_many, every electrical pin must be netted or explicitly allowed open (allow: ["U223.4"]). Open pins carry the EasyEDA pin_name so a floating 1OE# reads differently from a floating NC. Nets that reach only one pin fail. Stale allow entries fail (typo guard). NPTH holes are skipped.

Live-checked on the Aristo D2 panel: 672 pins, the one open pin is the last LED DOUT (U223.4).

Daisy, routing filter, C-number

review_board daisy. Walks SK6812 DOUT→DIN: one start, end open, every LED once. Fail on a branch, a cycle, leftovers, or several starts.

review_board cap_polarity. Each 0603 GND pad must sit next to the companion LED pin 1. Bulk polymer at the connector (C211/C212) is skipped — those pads are too large to be companions.

get_routing_scene net. Optional filter so you get one net’s tracks and vias instead of the whole board.

get_part_pins. The LCSC C-number (C5348912) is enough when it is unique.

Install:

sudo dpkg -i kicad-mcp_0.1.0-19_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

Toggle the kicad-mcp MCP server off/on in Cursor after installing. The autorouter companion kicad-routing-tools_0.20.4-2_amd64.deb is unchanged — take it from the v0.1.0-8 release.

PTH layers and thermals

get_pads layers. Every copper layer on the padstack (F.Cu, In1.Cu, In2.Cu, B.Cu on a 4-layer board). A 5V wire pad without In1.Cu cannot take thermals from the power pour.

review_board pth_pour. Every PTH is checked against 5V/GND pours: matching net needs the pad on that layer plus thermals; other pours and DATA pads need clearance. Samples the filled zone over IPC.

place_footprint PTH bake. Through-hole wire pads now span the inner copper, so a new 5V pad joins In1 instead of sitting on F/B only.

Docs for makers

Landing page and starter guides rewritten for hobbyists and students — what the tool is, who it is for, install, first sentence in Cursor. Same binary as 0.1.0-15 (review_board, silk text). The .deb ships the new README, German starter, and English getting-started page.

Layout physics review

review_board (read, new). Short honest report after copper, before claiming the board is done. Checks GND/power pours, whether 5V and GND sit on adjacent layers, and a GND via within 3 mm of each decoupling-cap GND pad. Not DRC and not connectivity — those stay check_drc / check_board. Does not flag 90° corners or EasyEDA silk overlap.

Silkscreen connector labels

add_text / add_texts (write, new). Board text on F.Silkscreen (default) or B.Silkscreen — connector names such as 5V, GND, DATA next to wire pads. Never F.Cu, never the footprint Value. Size default 1.0 mm (min 0.8). Back-silk is mirrored so it reads from the underside. Batch max 150, one undo.

clear_board also drops silk text. A fresh start no longer leaves leftover labels on Edge.Cuts.

Install:

SMD thermals + island cleanup

set_copper_zone thermal_smd=true (write). LED/cap GND pads on an F.Cu pour get 0.4 mm thermal spokes (0.3 mm gap). Vias stay solid. Wins over thermal when both are set.

set_copper_zone remove_islands=true (write). Drops isolated copper after refill (IRM_ALWAYS). Default stays keep-islands (IRM_NEVER) so a solid inner plane is unchanged unless you ask.

NPTH screw-head keepout. M3 mounting holes reserve a 7.5 mm courtyard so footprints cannot land under the screw head.

Install:

sudo apt-get install -f

Toggle the kicad-mcp MCP server off/on in Cursor after installing. The autorouter companion kicad-routing-tools_0.20.4-2_amd64.deb is unchanged — take it from the v0.1.0-8 release.
