Remote SSH Projects

Work on machines you only reach over SSH: the agent session, the file tree, git and file editing all run on the remote host.

Adding a remote

In Settings → Remote connections add a connection: a name and the exact SSH command (e.g. ssh user@host -p 2222). The remote needs the mistral-vibe CLI — Halny can install it (uv tool install mistral-vibe) and checks it with bash -lc so PATH from login shells is respected.

Each connection defines one or more locations (working directories). The sidebar groups remote sessions per location, with a status dot (latency check).

What works over SSH

  • Agent sessions — start, resume and queue prompts; one worker per host serves many parallel sessions
  • File tree and preview — browse, preview and edit remote files in the CodeMirror editor (saves go over SSH)
  • Git — status, diff, log, stage/unstage, commit and push on the remote repository
  • New project picker — browse remote folders when creating a session

Notes

  • Switching between local and remote sessions (or between two remotes) restarts the agent transport — state on disk is untouched
  • Removing a connection in Settings stops its worker and SSH processes
  • Remote file search supports @file mentions scoped to the remote working directory
