Halny includes a built-in HTTPS server — the same UI in a browser, plus an installable PWA for phones.
- Desktop: Settings → Serwer — set login & password and press Start; LAN URLs are shown for convenience
- Server/CLI:
--headless --serve --port=8443 --user=<name> --password=<secret>(see Headless Server)
- Log in at
https://<host>:8443— the login page is localized (EN/PL/FR/ES/DE/IT) and follows your browser language - Everything works in the browser: sessions, chat, preview/editing, remote SSH, statistics, settings (the server tab itself is hidden)
- Native file dialogs are replaced by an in-app folder picker; files can be downloaded
- Open the URL in your mobile browser and log in
- Use Add to Home Screen — the app installs as a standalone PWA with offline shell caching
The mobile layout adapts: hamburger menu, swipeable sidebar and dock, long-press context menus, safe-area padding. Floating action buttons (new chat, file actions) hide themselves when they would overlap the open drawer, the “New project…” pill replaces the desktop toolbar button, and theme/logout live at the bottom of the sidebar's Settings section — no duplicated top-bar controls.
- Login & password (scrypt-hashed), rate-limited per IP
- Session cookie httpOnly/Secure/SameSite=Lax, 30-day sliding expiry; WebSocket rejects unauthenticated connections before handshake
- Self-signed TLS by default — bring your own certificate with
--cert/--keyfor a clean padlock - Intended for LAN/VPN use; do not expose to the public internet with only built-in auth
