Workaround for now is removing the original 1.31 version I had in the portable folder and replacing with 1.70.0. Additionally, it seems to be an issue with 1.70.0 because when I was trying to fix the issue with mez timers I reverted to 1.68.0 and when I tried updating to 1.70 it still reverted after closing. |

Your workaround was exactly right, and it also diagnosed the bug — thank you. Fixed for the next update. What was happening: you run the portable copy (the zip). When you clicked the update banner, EQBuddy downloaded the installer and ran it — which installs the new version to Program Files and launches that copy. Your portable folder's exe never changed. So the freshly-installed 1.70.0 ran until you closed it, and your next launch — from the portable folder's exe or its shortcut — was the old version again. Not a revert; two copies, and the one you launch was never updated. (That's also why it "still reverted" after you tried 1.68 → 1.70: same loop.) The fix: EQBuddy now knows when it's running as a portable copy. The update banner stops offering the silent install (which could only mislead) and instead says you're on the portable copy and opens the release page so you can grab the new One heads-up from your workaround: replacing the folder keeps your data regardless — settings and history live in |

Now live in v1.72.0: portable copies now recognize themselves and the update banner sends you to the portable zip instead of silently installing elsewhere - the "reverting to 1.31" loop is closed. Thanks again Snagglefern. |
