P is partially complete, not pending. Only one quest in your screenshot has drops. |

wizen's read is right: P counts quests with partial progress, and your screenshot has exactly one (Vermilion Sky Ring at 2/3). The quest that "disappears" from the counts is Amulet of the Fang at 0/2 — untouched quests intentionally sit in no bucket, so D + R + P doesn't sum to the total (the tab tooltip spells out all four numbers including the total). If the counters would read better as "everything not done" to more people than just you, that's a one-line change — anyone else reading this, weigh in. |

Maybe U for Unfinished? "Partially complete" may be too word salady, and it starts with P so can be confused with Pending. |

Changed — and wizen, thank you for weighing in, though I've gone a different way than "U" for reasons worth spelling out. The tab headers now show what the numbers are out of: bjstrange's original complaint was arithmetic — three numbers that don't sum. They genuinely don't, because a quest you haven't started sits in no bucket by design. The tooltip has always explained that, which is the wrong place for the answer to a question the header itself provokes. With the total right there, a missing quest is a subtraction rather than a bug: 2+1+1 of 5, so one is untouched. On U for Unfinished — the instinct is right that "P" is doing too much work, but I don't think the rename lands. "Unfinished" would fairly include the Ready quests too: a quest with every piece collected but not turned in is very much unfinished. So the letter would get clearer while the buckets got blurrier, and someone would eventually ask why R and U overlap. Showing the total fixes the complaint without moving any boundary. If "P" itself is still the sticking point once you've seen it with the total attached, say so — a label change is cheap and I'd rather hear it after you've used it than argue about it in the abstract. |

I'd argue that a quest that isn't turned in is finished but not completed,
but that might be a hair a little too fine to split on a tooltip. Wonderful

That's not too fine a hair — it's the right distinction, and it's already the one EQBuddy draws internally. The states are exactly what you describe:
So "unfinished" would have covered R and P together and lost the distinction you're making, which is the argument against wizen's U — and you've articulated why better than I did. Leaving the letters as they are, with the total now making the arithmetic checkable. If P still reads wrong to you once you've used it with the total attached, say so — a label change is cheap, and you two disagreeing about it is more useful signal than either of you agreeing with me. |
