Thanks for this, and for the pointer to pq-companion — always useful to see how another tool framed the same problem. Worth saying where EQBuddy already is on part of it, since it may be closer than you think. The Gear Locker (⚙ → Gear Locker) takes every wearable in your bags, groups it by slot, and flags anything beaten on every stat by something else you're carrying as ⬇ outclassed — a dump candidate by arithmetic rather than taste. And the Gear card tracks a wishlist you can group by farm zone, so it answers "where do I go for the upgrades I still want". Stats come from the built-in catalog, so both are instant and offline. What you're describing goes further in two directions we don't cover:
Both are real work and neither is a no — I'm flagging them to David rather than promising a date. The second one especially needs the mote/exaltation data to be trustworthy before EQBuddy starts telling people what to farm; being confidently wrong about a BiS recommendation costs more trust than not having the feature. One thing that won't change either way: any of this will rank your own bags against your own character. EQBuddy doesn't compare you to other players, by design. |

The first half of this shipped today in v1.84.0 — thanks for the push, and for the pq-companion pointer that framed it. What's new: the Gear Locker now knows which item is actually on your character. Each slot marks it with ★, and anything in your bags that beats it on every stat both items carry is marked ⬆ upgrade over worn X. That is your "here is the gap, and here is what would close it" — the Locker could already say "this beats that", it just never said which row you were wearing, so it couldn't say "this beats what you have on". Two refusals are deliberate, and I'd rather state them than have you discover them:
The mote and exaltation half is not in this release, and I don't want to be vague about why. It isn't the projection maths — that part is straightforward. It's that EQBuddy would be telling you what to farm and what to socket, and the mote data behind that isn't at a standard I'd stake a recommendation on yet. A BiS suggestion that's confidently wrong costs more than not having the feature at all, and the Locker's whole credibility is that everything it says is arithmetic you could check by hand. That one stays open. If you try the ⬆ markers against a character you know well and it recommends something you'd disagree with, that's the report I'd most like to have. |
Uh oh!

There was a nice feature in Project Quarm Companion that would tell you the gear upgrades by slot to help you pick new equipment upgrades and suggest ones that through motes become more powerful than what you currently have.
Also be able to help figure out the best exhalations to put on items to make them the BIS.
Look at this Tool for Project Quarm might give you some ideas of features to add or tweak in what you are already providing in your awesome tool.
