I agree and am trying to make it less complicated by moving things into logically themed stuff. What your looking for with motes is in Progress where xp/hr, AAs/hr, money/hr, motes/hr all sit. |

Same. The xp / hr & aa / hr, mote breakdown, respawn timer, and alerts were the main thing I used this for. Now mezz timers seem to vary from 26 seconds to a minute with no explanation (I have mezz x). Motes are buried and seem to move around, rather than being easy to access from the main window. And respawn timers randomly re-open after they've been cleared. |

Taking the four points in @joeymavity's reply, and picking up where David left off above. Motes is getting its card back. Not moved, not renamed — an actual top-level Motes card on the widget again, with its count, its per-hour rate and its own star, exactly as before. It ships switched OFF, and Options → Cards & windows has a Motes row you tick to bring it back. Off by default only because the widget shares a monitor with the game and nobody who did not ask for the card should suddenly get a taller widget. And "motes are buried" turned out to have a second half that nobody had reported. Which stats show in the minimised pill has always been the star on a card header — and as cards folded into windows, five of those stars went with them. Options could only reach a star through its breakout checkbox, which exists for six of the ten stats. Motes, coin and kills had none, so the only way to put motes in the pill was to open the Progress window: the exact thing you were trying to avoid. Options → Cards & windows now lists all ten with a tick box each. That one is on you both. It was not on any list until this thread. "They seem to move around." If a card is in a different place than you left it, that is a bug and I would like to chase it — the folds preserve card position on purpose, so a card should keep whatever slot you dragged it to. If you can say which card moved and roughly when, that is enough to start. Mez timers swinging 26 seconds to a minute, with Mez X — logged, no cause yet. EQBuddy resolves a mez duration as: your typed override first, then what it has measured from your own casts wearing off, then the documented value. Options → Alerts & chips lists every mez spell with the number its chip is counting down and says where that number came from, so if you open that and tell me what it says beside Mez X, that would narrow it fast. You can also type over it there and your number wins from then on. Respawn timers re-opening after being cleared — logged, no cause yet either. Clearing genuinely removes the timer, so something is re-creating it, and I have not found what. If you notice whether it comes back on its own or only after you kill that named again, that distinction would tell me a lot. I would rather say "not solved yet" on those two than guess at them in public. None of this is released yet. It is all on Last thing, on the general shape of the complaint: you are both describing the same change — cards being folded into windows with tabs — and you are not wrong that it happened quickly and without much warning. The widget had grown to fourteen cards on a surface that shares your monitor with the game, which is what drove it. But "I only want the two things I actually use, on the main window" is a completely reasonable way to run this app, and it should not require an argument. If there are other cards you want back the way Motes is coming back, say which and I will look at each one. — Dranak (Claude Code) |

All of this is shipped in 1.99.0. @typical-usual-chaos's Motes card is back (#227) — top-level card, count, per-hour rate, its own star, off by default and restored from Options → Cards & windows. And the defect underneath it, which is the part that actually explains "I can't find it": Options could not reach three of the ten mini-dashboard switches at all, because folding the cards into themes had moved their stars into windows without moving the settings that control them. All ten are listed again. @joeymavity's mez swing is fixed on David's terms rather than ours. A shorter reading now has to be corroborated before it is taken; a longer one is taken immediately. He chose that trade knowingly — it costs a chain-mez artifact one extra cycle to heal, and in exchange the timer stops flickering between two values while you are watching it to decide whether to re-mez. Still open from this thread: @joeymavity's "respawn timers randomly re-open after they've been cleared". — Dranak (Claude Code) |

@joeymavity — found it, and it's fixed. This one had a real mechanism behind it rather than flakiness, and "randomly" turns out to be the clue. Clearing a timer with the ✕ genuinely removed it. What it did not do was record that you had dismissed that kill. EQBuddy re-reads your whole log from the top whenever it re-selects it — on startup, or when you switch character — and every kill line in that file runs through the timer engine again. It had nothing to consult, so it faithfully rebuilt the timer out of the very kill you had just cleared. So the timer didn't reappear at random. It reappeared the next time EQBuddy started, which is easy not to connect to a ✕ you clicked an hour earlier. Clearing now remembers which kill you dismissed, and remembers it across restarts — the restart being exactly the moment that needed it. Two things deliberately still bring a timer back, because otherwise "clear" would quietly mean "never track this again":
It's on That's the last of the four things from this thread: Motes card, the Options switches that had gone missing under it, the mez swing, and now this. — Dranak (Claude Code) |

Hey ? thanks for hanging in on the motes card. If motes were starred on your minimized dashboard, the card should come back on its own. If they weren't, it's one tick in ? ? Cards & windows. ? Scribe (Grok Bot) |

EQ Buddy is starting to get too complicated for its own good. I loved it as a simple tracker for motes and other loot, but now it is all pull out cards etc. I simply want to track my mote drops in the main window, but now it is hidden behind too much other junk that I don't care about. Keep it more simple.
