XboxFastZ v1.2.0 — Smart Endpoint Discovery

This release removes XboxFastZ's dependency on the upstream-maintained IP.*.txt files for automatic endpoint selection. XboxFastZ can now independently discover and select suitable endpoints for the user's current network.

Added

  • Added EndpointSelectorService for automatic, low-bandwidth endpoint discovery and selection that does NOT rely on the upstream-maintained IP.*.txt files.
  • Candidates are discovered independently by DNS-resolving the bounded, hardcoded catalog of real Xbox/CDN download domains in DnsMappingGenerator.HostRules (e.g. assets1.xboxlive.com, xvcf1.xboxlive.com, gst.prod.dl.playstation.net, …). Discovered IPs are capped at 60 candidates.
  • Selection uses a cheap-to-expensive funnel: ICMP reachability/latency → small HTTP latency probes (packet-loss estimation) → small 4 MB ranged speed test on the top 5 finalists → rank by measured throughput (latency as tie-breaker) → automatic selection.
  • Wired the DNS-based selector into the existing "Fastest Akamai IP" auto-feature. The legacy IP-file race-based selector is no longer used as the automatic selector.

Performance

  • Cheap connectivity/latency checks run before any speed test; the speed-test stage downloads at most 4 MB per finalist instead of the 30/50 MB used by the Speed Test tab.
  • Concurrent ICMP stage with a hard 3-second cap and early stop, minimizing wasted probing.
  • Bandwidth is bounded (≤ ~20 MB worst case) and cancellation is preserved throughout.

Preserved

  • Existing Speed Test tab workflow and per-IP full speed test are unchanged and still use the IP files.
  • The legacy IP.*.txt files, loaders, and related services are retained for backward compatibility; they are not deleted.
  • On discovery failure the currently working endpoint is preserved and a clear failure result is returned (no silent fallback to IP-file candidates).
  • Network Diagnostics from v1.1.0, XboxFastz branding, and original author attribution/donation information are preserved (USDT TRC20: TT9CzksU5KuXkkYaox2ifvF5tbGaQRmSZw).

Installation

Download XboxFastZ-v1.2.0-win-x64.zip, extract, and run XboxDownload.exe (self-contained, no .NET runtime required).

XboxFastZ v1.1.1 — Maintenance Update

This maintenance release verifies the in-app update checker and keeps the v1.1.0 feature set intact.

Fixed

  • Verified the in-app update checker points to the XboxFastZ releases (https://github.com/DreamOpenS/XboxFastZ) instead of the original XboxDownload repository.
  • Version/release checking now resolves the latest tag from XboxFastZ releases.
  • The Help → Download menu and the About dialog project link continue to point to XboxFastZ.

Preserved

  • Network Diagnostics introduced in v1.1.0.
  • Improved English README and XboxFastz branding/rebranding.
  • Original author attribution and crypto donation information (USDT TRC20: TT9CzksU5KuXkkYaox2ifvF5tbGaQRmSZw).

Installation

Download XboxFastZ-v1.1.1-win-x64.zip, extract, and run XboxDownload.exe (self-contained, no .NET runtime required).

Note: v1.2.0 (Smart Endpoint Discovery) is under development and is not part of this release.

Network Diagnostics

XboxFastz v1.1.0 adds lightweight diagnostics to the existing Speed Test workflow.

Added

  • DNS resolution status for the selected download endpoint.
  • Selected CDN/IP reachability checks.
  • Latency, packet loss, test duration, and success/failure reporting.
  • Cancellation for running diagnostics.
  • Copy and text export of diagnostic results.

Performance

  • Reuses one DNS resolution and one selected address per diagnostic run.
  • Reuses the existing HTTP latency path and disposes measured responses.
